Abstract

A live uplink transmission and broadcasting management system and method for managing a plurality of live uplink transmissions and broadcasting events, the system comprising: (i) a publication portal for publishing transmissions of live events; (ii) a database for storing metadata, system data, broadcast data and user data; (iii) a broadcast manager adapted for receiving and processing in real-time metadata information related to a plurality of live uplink transmission events wherein each live uplink transmission event transmits in a plurality of uplink channels, wherein processed metadata information generate data elements adapted for being used in telecom and datacom real time management applications, said broadcast manager also adapted for updating the publication portal with live event information and (iv) a set of Quality of Service (QoS) management methods to coordinate the usage of Uplink transmissions based on the received metadata and their processing in the broadcast manager.

Claims (35)

1. A system for managing a plurality of live video transmissions, the system comprising:

at least one first processing device configured to:

receive metadata information regarding a plurality of live video transmissions, each of the plurality of live video transmissions being constructed of a first plurality of packets transmitted via a first wireless connection associated with a first modem and a second plurality of packets transmitted via a second wireless connection associated with a second modem different from the first modem, wherein the metadata information includes information describing at least one of the plurality of video transmissions, and information identifying a remote server receiving the at least one live video transmission;

store at least part of the metadata information;

publish the at least one live video transmission, thereby enable simultaneously delivering the at least one live video transmission from the remote server to a plurality of separate second processing devices.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote server is located remotely from the plurality of separate second processing devices.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes streaming the at least one live video transmission.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes providing a link to a website where the at least one live video transmission can be viewed.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the metadata information includes information indicative of a transmission performance of at least one of the first modem or the second modem, and publishing the at least one live video transmission includes providing metadata information including information indicative of the transmission performance of the at least one of the first modem or the second modem.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes providing metadata information including a location information associated with the at least one live video transmission.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes providing an offer to purchase rights to use the at least one live video transmission.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes adding information to a programming guide from analyzing the at least one live video transmission and from the metadata information.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes automatically update a referral portal with the relevant information including referrals to broadcasting feeds.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote server that receives the at least one live video transmission is configured to decode and distribute the at least one live video transmission.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one first processing device is further configured to learn quality of service parameters of a plurality of live video transmissions that were previously processed.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one first processing device is further configured to collect statistical information about users of the plurality of separate second processing devices.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the statistical information includes at least one of: the number of users, the origin of users, or popularity of each live video transmission.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one live video transmission includes video feeds from a plurality of cameras.

15. The system of claim 1 , wherein the information describing each of the plurality of video transmissions includes at least two of the following parameters: one or more keywords, geo-location information, network parameters, and a reporter name, and wherein the at least one first processing device is further configured to identify a change in one of the parameters and to update a programming guide accordingly.

16. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one first processing device is further configured to match advertisements to the at least one live video transmission based on the metadata information.

17. The system of claim 1 , wherein an image resolution of the at least one live video transmission received from the remote server dynamically changes during the transmission in response to transmission conditions of at least one of the first wireless connection or the second wireless connection.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the at least one live video transmission is delivered to the plurality of separate second processing devices over IP protocol, and wherein the delivery from the remote servers to the plurality of separate second processing devices is done in streaming.

19. A method for managing a plurality of live video transmissions, the method comprising:

receiving metadata information regarding a plurality of live video transmissions, each of the plurality of live video transmissions being constructed of a first plurality of packets transmitted via a first wireless connection associated with a first modem and a second plurality of packets transmitted via a second wireless connection associated with a second modem different from the first modem, wherein the metadata information includes information describing at least one of the plurality of video transmissions and information identifying a remote server receiving the at least one live video transmission;

storing at least part of the metadata information;

publishing the at least one live video transmission, thereby enable simultaneously delivering the at least one live video transmission from the remote server to a plurality of separate second processing devices.

20. The method of claim 19 , wherein each of the plurality of live video transmissions is being transmitted by a single remote unit associated with both the first modem and the second modem, and the first modem and the second modem are used in concert to facilitate the live video transmission.

21. The method of claim 19 , wherein publishing the at least one live video transmission includes at least one of:

streaming the at least one live video transmission;

providing a link to a website where the at least one live video transmission can be viewed;

providing metadata information including information indicative of the transmission performance of the at least one of the first modem or the second modem;

providing metadata information including an identity information of a reporter associated with the at least one live video transmission and a location information associated with the at least one live video transmission;

providing an offer to purchase rights to use the at least one live video transmission;

adding information to a programming guide from analyzing the at least one live video transmission and from the metadata information;

or providing alerts to specific users associated with the plurality of separate second processing devices that requested to receive such alert when metadata information associated with the live video transmission matches their preferences.
