Abstract

A lamp for a vehicle includes an array module comprising a plurality of micro Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The plurality of micro LEDs include a plurality of micro LED pairs, where each micro LED pair includes a first micro LED chip including first electrodes, and a second micro LED chip including second electrodes. One of the second electrodes is configured to contact one of the first electrodes.

Claims (50)

1 . A lamp for a vehicle, comprising:

an array module comprising a plurality of micro Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs),

wherein the plurality of micro LEDs comprise a plurality of micro LED pairs, each micro LED pair comprising:

a first micro LED chip comprising first electrodes; and

a second micro LED chip comprising second electrodes, one of the second electrodes being configured to contact one of the first electrodes.

2 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the first electrodes comprise a first positive electrode and a first negative electrode,

wherein the second electrodes comprise a second positive electrode and a second negative electrode, and

wherein at least one of the second positive electrode or the second negative electrode is configured to contact one of the first positive electrode or the first negative electrode.

3 . The lamp according to claim 2 , wherein the first micro LED chip defines a first stepped portion configured to seat the first positive electrode at a position spaced apart from the first negative electrode by a first distance in a height direction of the first micro LED chip,

wherein the second micro LED chip defines a second stepped portion configured to seat the second positive electrode at a position spaced apart from the second negative electrode by the first distance in a height direction of the second micro LED chip, and

wherein the first distance is a half of a height of the first micro LED chip, the half of the height of the first micro LED chip being equal to a half of a height of the second micro LED chip.

4 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of micro LED pairs are configured to define an arranged pattern of the plurality of micro LED pairs based on a shape of the plurality of micro LED pairs.

5 . The lamp according to claim 4 , wherein the array module further comprises a base configured to seat the plurality of micro LED pairs, and

wherein the plurality of micro LED pairs comprises:

a first micro LED pair; and

a second micro LED pair disposed on the base at a position diagonal to a position of the first micro LED pair on the base.

6 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the array module further comprises at least one wire configured to connect to the plurality of micro LED pairs, and

wherein the wire comprises:

a sub-wire configured to connect to each pair of the plurality of micro LED pairs; and

a main wire connected to the sub-wire.

7 . The lamp according to claim 6 , wherein the sub-wire extends in a longitudinal direction or a lateral direction of each pair of the plurality of micro LED pairs, and

wherein the main wire extends in a direction parallel to a virtual line that passes through first vertices of the plurality of micro LED pairs.

8 . The lamp according to claim 6 , wherein the array module comprises a first group of micro LED pairs and a second group of micro LED pairs, the second group of micro LED pairs being spaced apart from the first group of micro LED pairs by a group distance, and

wherein an interval between micro LED pairs in the first group of micro LED pairs is less than the group distance.

9 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the array module comprises:

a first array comprising the plurality of micro LED pairs; and

a second array comprising a plurality of micro LED chips, and

wherein a pattern of the plurality of micro LED pairs arranged on the first array is determined based on a pattern of the plurality of micro LED chips arranged on the second array.

10 . The lamp according to claim 9 , wherein the plurality of micro LED chips are disposed on the second array without overlapping the plurality of LED pairs disposed on the first array in a direction of light emission from the lamp.

11 . The lamp according to claim 10 , wherein any one of the plurality of micro LED chips disposed on the second array is connected in series to at least one of the plurality of micro LED pairs disposed on the first array.

12 . The lamp according to claim 10 , wherein the plurality of micro LED pairs disposed on the first array are configured to connect to a first positive electrode wire and to a first negative electrode wire, and

wherein the plurality of micro LED chips disposed on the second array are configured to connect to a second positive electrode wire and to a second negative electrode wire.

13 . The lamp according to claim 12 , wherein each pair of the plurality of micro LED pairs disposed on the first array comprises a first pair electrode and a second pair electrode,

wherein each chip of the plurality of micro LED chips disposed on the second array comprises a first chip electrode and a second chip electrode, and

wherein the second chip electrode is located vertically below a bottom surface of one of the plurality of micro LED chips disposed on the second array.

14 . The lamp according to claim 13 , wherein the array module further comprises a first insulation layer disposed between the first chip electrode and the second chip electrode in a direction of light emission from the lamp.

15 . The lamp according to claim 14 , wherein the first insulation layer is made of an opaque material.

16 . The lamp according to claim 15 , wherein the array module further comprises a reflective layer disposed at the first insulation layer.

17 . The lamp according to claim 14 , wherein the array module further comprises a reflective layer disposed at the first insulation layer, and

wherein the first insulation layer is made of a transparent material.

18 . The lamp according to claim 14 , wherein the array module further comprises a second insulation layer disposed between the first insulation layer and the second pair electrode in the direction of light emission from the lamp, and

wherein the second insulation layer is made of a transparent material.

19 . The lamp according to claim 18 , wherein the array module further comprises a third insulation layer disposed between the second insulation layer and the first pair electrode in the direction of light emission from the lamp, and

wherein the third insulation layer is made of a transparent material.

20 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of micro LED pairs comprises:

a first micro LED pair comprising first pair electrodes; and

a second micro LED pair comprising second pair electrodes configured to face the first pair electrodes, respectively, based on a type of the first pair electrodes being equal to a type of the second pair electrodes.

21 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the array module further comprises a partition structure that surrounds a perimeter of each pair of the plurality of micro LED pairs and that is configured to guide light generated by the plurality of micro LED pairs.

22 . The lamp according to claim 21 , wherein the array module further comprises a phosphor disposed inside of a space defined by the partition structure.

23 . The lamp according to claim 1 , wherein the array module further comprises an insulator disposed vertically below the plurality of micro LED pairs, the insulator defining one or more holes configured to accommodate a metal material.
