Modular furniture assembly
A modular furniture assembly includes: a base member having a frame assembly, a transverse member having a frame assembly, a foot configured to contact a support surface, and a mounting platform having a plurality of apertures therethrough. The mounting platform is configured to be mounted on the base member frame assembly and the transverse member frame assembly, thereby connecting the frame assemblies. The foot is selectively mounted on the mounting platform, such that the foot is configured to contact the support surface when the modular furniture assembly is in an upright configuration. The mounting platform connects the base and transverse member frame assemblies together and also acts as a platform for receiving a variety of different types of feet.
1. A modular furniture assembly comprising:
a base member;
a transverse member having a hole therein, wherein the height of the transverse member is substantially greater than the height of the base; and
a coupler configured to selectively couple the base to the transverse member, wherein the coupler selectively extends through the hole to thereby couple the base to the transverse member.
2. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 1 , where both the base member and the transverse member have a generally rectangular shape.
3. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 2 , wherein the generally rectangular base member does not include any protrusions or appendages deviating from the generally rectangular shape defined by the base member.
4. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 2 , wherein the generally rectangular transverse member does not include any protrusions or appendages deviating from the generally rectangular shape defined by the transverse member.
5. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein the coupler manually selectively couples the base to the transverse member without use of a hammer, screwdriver, or other tool.
6. A modular furniture assembly comprising:
a planar base member having a generally rectangular shape;
a planar transverse member having a generally rectangular shape, wherein the height of the transverse member is substantial greater than the height of the planar base member; and
a coupler configured to selectively couple the planar base member to the planar transverse member.

A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 6 , wherein the planar base member comprises a first end and a second end, wherein the first end comprises at least one aperture adjacent at least one edge of the planar base member, the at least one aperture being configured to allow insertion of the coupler therein.
8. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 7 , wherein the planar base member includes apertures along all four edges of the generally rectangular planar base member.
9. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 7 , wherein the planar base member does not include any protrusions or appendages deviating from the generally rectangular shape defined by the planar base member.
10. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 9 , wherein the planar transverse member does not include any protrusions or appendages deviating from the generally rectangular shape defined by the planar transverse member.
11. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 6 , wherein the planar transverse member does not include any protrusions or appendages deviating from the generally rectangular shape defined by the planar transverse member.
12. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 6 , wherein the planar transverse member comprises a first face and a second face, where the first face comprises a hole in a middle portion thereof configured to selectively receive a portion of the coupler as the coupler couples the planar base member to the planar transverse member.
13. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 6 , wherein the coupler manually selectively couples the base to the transverse member without use of a hammer, screwdriver, or other tool.
14. A modular furniture assembly comprising:
a base member;
a transverse member having a hole therein;
a cover extending over the transverse member, the cover also having a hole that is aligned with the hole of the transverse member; and
a coupler configured to selectively couple the base to the transverse member, wherein the coupler selectively extends through the hole of the transverse member to thereby couple the base to the transverse member.
15. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 14 , wherein the base member is generally rectangular in shape and does not include any protrusions or appendages deviating from the generally rectangular shape defined by the base member.
16. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 14 , wherein the coupler manually selectively couples the base to the transverse member without use of a hammer, screwdriver, or other tool.
17. A modular furniture assembly as recited in claim 14 , wherein the cover is an inner cover, the modular furniture assembly further comprising an outer cover also extending over the transverse member, the outer cover also having a hole that is aligned with the hole of the transverse member.
