Abstract

A user equipment (UE) for discontinuous reception (DRX) operation having a Downlink DRX Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) Round-Trip Time Timer (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL) is disclosed. The UE comprises one or more non-transitory computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon; at least one processor coupled to the one or more non-transitory computer-readable media, and configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to perform the DRX operation, wherein the DRX operation comprises: starting the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL from an initial value in a first symbol after an end of a corresponding transmission carrying a DL HARQ feedback, the DL HARQ feedback corresponding to downlink data. The initial value is represented in number of symbols of a BWP (bandwidth part) where the downlink data is received.

Claims (20)

1. A user equipment (UE) for discontinuous reception (DRX) operation having a Downlink DRX Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) Round-Trip Time Timer (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL), the UE comprising:

one or more non-transitory computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon; and

at least one processor coupled to the one or more non-transitory computer-readable media, and configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to perform the DRX operation, wherein the DRX operation comprises:

receiving a downlink (DL) data on a DL bandwidth part (BWP);

performing an uplink (UL) transmission carrying a DL HARQ feedback corresponding to the DL data on a UL BWP; and

starting the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL in a first symbol of a plurality of symbols of the DL BWP immediately after an end of the UL transmission, wherein:

each symbol in the plurality of symbols comprises a scalable time unit having a length that is a variable fraction of a fixed time unit, and

the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL starts running from an initial value that is represented in a number of symbols of the DL BWP.

2. The UE of claim 1 , wherein a symbol length of at least one of the number of symbols is determined by a subcarrier spacing (SCS) of the DL BWP.

3. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL is a timer configured by a base station to the UE to specify when to start an active time period during which the UE is to monitor a Physical Downlink Control CHannel (PDCCH).

4. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL starts running from the initial value towards zero or before being stopped.

5. A method for discontinuous reception (DRX) operation having a Downlink DRX Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) Round-Trip Time Timer (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL) for a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

receiving, by reception circuitry of the UE, a downlink (DL) data on a DL bandwidth part (BWP);

performing, by transmission circuitry of the UE, an uplink (UL) transmission carrying a DL HARQ feedback corresponding to the DL data on a UL BWP; and

starting, by a processor of the UE, the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL in a first symbol of a plurality of symbols of the DL BWP immediately after an end of the UL transmission, wherein:

each symbol in the plurality of symbols comprises a scalable time unit having a length that is a variable fraction of a fixed time unit, and

the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL starts running from an initial value that is represented in a number of symbols of the DL BWP.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein a symbol length of at least one of the number of symbols is determined by a subcarrier spacing (SCS) of the DL BWP.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL is a timer configured by a base station to the UE to specify when to start an active time period during which the UE is to monitor a Physical Downlink Control CHannel (PDCCH).

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL starts running from the initial value towards zero or before being stopped.
