Distribution of infusion pumps
View Patent ↗Some embodiments described herein provide for a number of portable infusion pumps to be distributed to a pump user via a pharmacy system or like.
1. A kit for administering medicine, the kit comprising:
a container;
a plurality of prefilled medicine cartridges disposed within the container;
a plurality of infusion pump devices disposed within the container, wherein each of the infusion pump devices is configured to irreversibly receive one of the prefilled medicine cartridges therein; and
a plurality of infusion sets disposed within the container.
2. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are external to the infusion pump devices within the container.
3. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are physically separated from the infusion pump devices within the container.
4. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the container comprises a thermally insulated compartment.
5. The kit of claim 4 , wherein the plurality of prefilled medicine cartridges are disposed within the thermally insulted compartment and the infusion pump devices and infusion sets are disposed within the container external to the thermally insulated compartment.
6. The kit of claim 1 , further comprising a cold pack disposed within the thermally insulated compartment.
7. The kit of claim 6 wherein the plurality of prefilled medicine cartridges are disposed within the thermally insulted compartment.
8. The kit of claim 1 , wherein each of the infusion pump devices in the plurality of infusion pump devices is configured to removably attach to a reusable controller device such that a first electrical connector exposed along an exterior of a selected infusion pump device engages a second electrical connector exposed along an exterior of the reusable controller device.
9. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the container contains the infusion pump devices, the prefilled medicine cartridges, and the infusion sets in a predetermined ratio of 1:1:2 respectively.
10. The kit of claim 1 , wherein each of the prefilled medicine cartridges is sealed by a pierceable septum and wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are external to the infusion pump devices within the container; and
wherein each of the infusion pump devices includes a cap device configured to seal an external opening of a respective infusion pump device and configured to pierce the septum of a respective prefilled medicine cartridge after the respective prefilled medicine cartridge is slidably inserted through said external opening.
11. The kit of claim 1 , wherein each of the infusion pump devices in said plurality of infusion pump devices includes a drive system comprising a rotational motor coupled to a gear system, the drive system being configured to dispense medicine from a corresponding one of said prefilled medicine cartridges.
12. The kit of claim 1 , further comprising:
a sealed pouch disposed within the container, wherein the plurality of infusion sets are arranged within the sealed pouch.
13. A kit for administering medicine, the kit comprising:
a container;
a plurality of prefilled medicine cartridges disposed within the container; and
a plurality of infusion pump devices disposed within the container, wherein each of the infusion pump devices is configured to irreversibly receive one of the prefilled medicine cartridges therein.
14. The kit of claim 13 , wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are physically separated from the infusion pump devices within the container.
15. The kit of claim 13 , wherein the container comprises a thermally insulated compartment, and wherein the plurality of prefilled medicine cartridges are disposed within the thermally insulted compartment and the infusion pump devices are disposed within the container external to the thermally insulated compartment.
16. The kit of claim 15 , further comprising a means for cooling said thermally insulated compartment during transport of the kit.
17. The kit of claim 13 , wherein the container contains the infusion pump devices and the prefilled medicine cartridges in a predetermined ratio of 1:1.
18. The kit of claim 13 , wherein each of the prefilled medicine cartridges is sealed by a pierceable septum and wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are external to the infusion pump devices within the container; and
wherein each of the infusion pump devices is configured to engage a cap device configured to seal an external opening of a respective infusion pump device and configured to pierce the septum of a respective prefilled medicine cartridge after the respective prefilled medicine cartridge is slidably inserted through said external opening.
19. A kit for administering medicine, the kit comprising:
a plurality of prefilled medicine cartridges;
a plurality of infusion pump devices, wherein each of the infusion pump devices is configured to irreversibly receive one of the prefilled medicine cartridges therein and wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are external to the infusion pump devices; and
a plurality of infusion sets disposed within a container.
20. The kit of claim 19 , wherein each of the prefilled medicine cartridges is sealed by a pierceable septum and wherein the prefilled medicine cartridges are external to the infusion pump devices; and
wherein each of the infusion pump devices includes a cap device configured to seal an external opening of a respective infusion pump device and configured to pierce the septum of a respective prefilled medicine cartridge after the respective prefilled medicine cartridge is slidably inserted through said external opening.
