Abstract

Methods and systems for incentivizing verification of a digital identity are provided. The method includes generating a first digital identity through at least a first certified device, the first digital identity including a first secure digital artifact uploaded to an auditable chain of a public ledger to establish a first physical identity of a first user. The method also includes associating the first digital identity with a new digital identity, the new digital identity including a new secure digital artifact uploaded to the auditable chain of the public ledger to establish a second physical identity of a second user, the first digital identity providing verification for the new digital identity. The method also includes providing rewards to the first user for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, the rewards including social and/or monetary incentives for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity.

Claims (56)

1. A computer-implemented method for incentivizing social verification of a digital identity, comprising:

generating a first digital identity for a first user through at least a first certified device, the first digital identity comprising a first secure digital artifact generated by the first certified device and uploaded to an auditable chain of a public ledger to establish a first physical identity of the first user, the first certified device authenticating the first physical identity of the first user;

generating a new digital identity for a second user through at least a second certified device, the new digital identity comprising a new secure digital artifact generated by the second certified device;

receiving a request from either the first user or the second user to associate the first digital identity with the new digital identity;

associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity through the new secure digital artifact generated by the second certified device, the new digital identity comprising the new secure digital artifact uploaded to the auditable chain of the public ledger to establish a second physical identity of a second user in connection with the first physical identity; and

providing rewards to the first user for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, the rewards comprising social and/or monetary incentives for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, wherein the rewards are provided based on increasing a rank associated with the first user, the rank based on a number of other users associated with the first user,

wherein the first secure digital artifact and the new secure digital artifact comprise photographs.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein providing the rewards comprises providing financial rewards comprising at least one of cash currency and/or tokens with monetary value that may be exchanged for cash currency.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein providing the rewards comprises providing non-financial rewards comprising points having social or competitive value for a social ranking.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the rewards are provided based on geographical diversity of other users associated with the first user.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the rewards are provided based on new user referrals by the first user.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the rewards are provided based on an activity level of the first user, the activity level comprising repeat activity with an existing user association.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

penalizing the first user for fraudulent activity by removing rewards.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

querying the first user regarding verification of a second digital identity;

receiving a response from the first user regarding the verification of the second digital identity;

comparing the response with other responses from other users regarding verification of the second digital identity to determine a confidence score; and

providing the rewards to the first user based on the confidence score.

9. A system for incentivizing social verification of a digital identity, comprising:

a memory storing sequences of instructions; and

a processor configured to execute the sequences of instructions which, when executed, causes the processor to perform:

generating a first digital identity for a first user through at least a first certified device, the first digital identity comprising a first secure digital artifact generated by the first certified device and uploaded to an auditable chain of a public ledger to establish a first physical identity of the first user, the first certified device authenticating the first physical identity of the first user;

generating a new digital identity for a second user through at least a second certified device, the new digital identity comprising a new secure digital artifact generated by the second certified device;

receiving a request from either the first user or the second user to associate the first digital identity with the new digital identity;

associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity through the new secure digital artifact generated by the second certified device, the new digital identity comprising the new secure digital artifact uploaded to the auditable chain of the public ledger to establish a second physical identity of a second user in connection with the first physical identity; and

providing rewards to the first user for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, the rewards comprising social and/or monetary incentives for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, wherein the rewards are provided based on increasing a rank associated with the first user, the rank based on a number of other users associated with the first user,

wherein the first secure digital artifact and the new secure digital artifact comprise photographs.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein:

providing the rewards comprises:

providing financial rewards comprising at least one of cash currency and/or tokens with monetary value that may be exchanged for cash currency.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein:

providing the rewards comprises:

providing non-financial rewards comprising points having social or competitive value for a social ranking.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the rewards are provided based on geographical diversity of other users associated with the first user.

13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the rewards are provided based on new user referrals by the first user.

14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the rewards are provided based on an activity level of the first user, the activity level comprising repeat activity with an existing user association.

15. The system of claim 9 , further comprising stored sequences of instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform:

penalizing the first user for fraudulent activity by removing rewards.

16. The system of claim 9 , further comprising stored sequences of instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform:

querying the first user regarding verification of a second digital identity;

receiving a response from the first user regarding the verification of the second digital identity;

comparing the response with other responses from other users regarding verification of the second digital identity to determine a confidence score; and

providing the rewards to the first user based on the confidence score.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium is provided including instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for incentivizing social verification of a digital identity, the method comprising:

generating a first digital identity for a first user through at least a first certified device, the first digital identity comprising a first secure digital artifact generated by the first certified device and uploaded to an auditable chain of a public ledger to establish a first physical identity of the first user, the first certified device authenticating the first physical identity of the first user;

generating a new digital identity for a second user through at least a second certified device, the new digital identity comprising a new secure digital artifact generated by the second certified device;

receiving a request from either the first user or the second user to associate the first digital identity with the new digital identity;

associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity through the new secure digital artifact generated by the second certified device, the new digital identity comprising the new secure digital artifact uploaded to the auditable chain of the public ledger to establish a second physical identity of a second user in connection with the first physical identity; and

providing rewards to the first user for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, the rewards comprising social and/or monetary incentives for associating the first digital identity with the new digital identity, wherein the rewards are provided based on increasing a rank associated with the first user, the rank based on a number of other users associated with the first user,

wherein the first secure digital artifact and the new secure digital artifact comprise photographs.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the method further comprises:

querying the first user regarding verification of a second digital identity;

receiving a response from the first user regarding the verification of the second digital identity;

comparing the response with other responses from other users regarding verification of the second digital identity to determine a confidence score; and

providing the rewards to the first user based on the confidence score verifying the first certified device belongs to the first user.
