detect a user interface interaction indicating a badge clearing selection for the folder, the user interface interaction being applied to the badge for the folder;

provide a menu on the user interface for clearing the folder badge of the folder in response to detecting the user interface interaction;

upon detecting a user interface selection in the menu, clearing the badge on the folder icon;

wherein the clearing the badge on the folder leaves application badges on application icons within the folder intact.

10. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the user interface interaction includes a press on the folder icon for a threshold time period.

11. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the user interface interaction includes a press on the badge for the folder for a threshold time period.

12. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the menu provides an option to concurrently clear application badges for applications within the folder when clearing the badge for the folder.

13. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the electronic device is configured to display by:

determining that a folder associated with the folder icon has multiple screens;

displaying a first screen and a badge number associated with applications within the first screen for a first time period; and

displaying a second screen and a second badge number associated with applications within the second screen for a second time period.

14. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the electronic device is further configured to display by clearing the badge after a time period of inactivity of interaction with the folder.

15. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the electronic device is further configured to display notification panels filtered for the folder when opening a notification panel display while a user interface for the folder is shown.

16. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the electronic device is further configured to group notification panels for all applications within a folder on a notification panel display.

17. A non-transitory computer readable medium for storing instruction code, which, when executed by a processor of an electronic device having, a display, cause the electronic device to:

display a user interface on the display, wherein the user interface includes at least one folder icon for a folder, the folder icon further including a badge providing an indication of a number of applications with notifications inside the folder, the applications with notifications inside the folder having application icons, the application icons including an application badge indicating a number of notifications;

detect a user interface interaction indicating a badge clearing selection for the folder, the user interface interaction being applied to the badge for the folder;

provide a menu on the user interface for clearing the folder badge of the folder in response to detecting the user interface interaction;

upon detecting a user interface selection in the menu, clearing the badge on the folder icon;
