Abstract

A method for proactively creating a photo product includes storing a library of points of interest in a computer system, detecting one or more images from a user, automatically extracting image capture locations from the images, automatically comparing the image capture locations with the points of interest in the library to obtain one or more identified points of interest, automatically identifying an occasion based on the identified points of interest in the library, automatically selecting, by the computer processor, a photo product type in part based on the occasion, automatically creating a design of a photo product of the photo product type using one or more images from the user, and manufacturing a physical photo product based on the photo product design.

Claims (32)

1. A computer-implemented method for proactively creating a photo product, comprising:

storing a library of points of interest in a computer system;

detecting one or more images from a user;

automatically extracting image capture locations from the images;

automatically comparing, by a computer processor, the image capture locations with the points of interest in the library to obtain one or more identified points of interest;

identifying a home location for the user;

automatically comparing the image capture locations with the points of interest in the library at a higher density near the home location of the user to adjust the one or more identified points of interest;

automatically identifying, by the computer processor, an occasion based on the identified points of interest in the library, wherein the occasion is automatically identified in part based on the adjusted identified one or more points of interest;

automatically selecting, by the computer processor, a photo product type in part based on the occasion;

automatically creating a design of a photo product of the photo product type using one or more images from the user; and

manufacturing a physical photo product based on the photo product design.

2. The automated communication design construction system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the points of interest is removed from one or more of the identified points of interest near the home location of the user.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

automatically selecting a number of images from the one or more images detected from the user,

wherein the photo product type is automatically selected by the computer processor in part based on the number of images.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , wherein the number of images is automatically selected in part based on image quality or relevance to the user.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , wherein the number of images is automatically selected in part based on image capture times of the one or more images from the user.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the photo product type is automatically selected by the computer processor in part based on image capture times of the one or more images.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the design of a photo product is created without receiving a user's request.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein automatically creating a design of a photo product of the photo product type comprises:

automatically placing at least some of the one or more images in a layout of a photo product of the photo product type to create the photo product design.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein automatically creating a design for a photo product comprises:

assigning at least a portion of the selected images into a first page group and a second page group each comprising one or more images;

placing the first page group of one or more images in the first page of the photo product; and

placing the second page group of one or more images in the second page of the photo product.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein automatically creating a design for a photo product further comprises:

automatically selecting a first page layout from a library of page layouts, wherein the first page group of one or more images are placed in the first page according to the first page layout; and

automatically selecting a second page layout from the library of page layouts, wherein the second page group of one or more images are placed in the second page according to the second page layout.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein at least two selected images are separated into the first page group and the second page group based on capture times of the two selected images.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein at least two selected images are separated into the first page group and the second page group based on color content of the two selected images.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

sharing a design of the photo product with one or more user devices.
