Abstract

A method for a zero shutter-lag (ZSL) mode of an image capture device includes, in response to detecting a first event indicative of the ZSL mode, setting the image capture device to the ZSL mode. Setting the image capture device to the ZSL mode includes setting a sensor of the image capture device to a first resolution that is higher than a second resolution of a non-ZSL mode, and setting a timer to expire after a predefined period. The method also includes, in response to the timer expiring after the predefined period, setting the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode. The non-ZSL mode cancels the ZSL mode.

Claims (50)

1. A method for a zero shutter-lag (ZSL) mode of an image capture device, the method comprising:

in response to detecting a first event indicative of entering the ZSL mode:

setting the image capture device to the ZSL mode,

wherein, setting the image capture device to the ZSL mode comprises

setting a sensor of the image capture device to a first resolution that is higher than a second resolution of a non-ZSL mode; and

setting a timer to expire after a predefined period; and

in response to the timer expiring after the predefined period and before an image is captured with the image capture device while the image capture device is in the ZSL mode,

setting the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode,

wherein the non-ZSL mode cancels the ZSL mode.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

in response to the image capture device capturing the image while the timer has not expired, resetting the timer.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

in response to detecting a second event indicative of the non-ZSL mode and the image capture device being in the ZSL mode,

setting the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the second event comprises detecting that a battery life of a battery of the image capture device is below a threshold.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the second event comprises detecting that the image capture device is switched to a non-photo mode.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first event comprises a shutter press event.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first event comprises a liquid crystal display (LCD) touch event.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first event comprises a movement of the image capture device.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first event comprises a voice command to the image capture device.

10. An image capture device, comprising:

a sensor;

a processor; and

a memory, the memory including instructions executable by the processor to:

in response to detecting a first event indicative of a zero shutter-lag (ZSL) mode,

set the image capture device to the ZSL mode; and

set a timer for the ZSL mode; and

in response to the timer expiring before a photo is captured with the image capture device while the image capture device is in the ZSL mode,

set the image capture device to a non-ZSL mode,

wherein the non-ZSL mode cancels the ZSL mode, and

wherein the image capture device operates in the ZSL mode at a higher resolution than in the non-ZSL mode.

11. The image capture device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to:

in response to detecting a second event indicative of the non-ZSL mode and the image capture device being in the ZSL mode,

set the image capture device to the non-ZSL mode.

12. The image capture device of claim 11 , wherein the second event comprises detecting that a battery life of a battery of the image capture device is below a threshold.

13. The image capture device of claim 11 , wherein the second event comprises detecting that the image capture device is switched to a non-photo mode.

14. The image capture device of claim 10 , wherein the first event comprises a shutter press event.

15. The image capture device of claim 10 , wherein the first event comprises a liquid crystal display (LCD) touch event.

16. The image capture device of claim 10 , wherein the first event comprises a movement of the image capture device.

17. The image capture device of claim 10 , wherein the first event comprises a voice command to the image capture device.

18. A method for energy management of an image capture device, comprising:

setting the image capture device to a first mode;

setting a timer; and

in response to the timer expiring before an image is captured with the image capture device while the image capture device is in the first mode, setting the image capture device to a second mode,

wherein setting the image capture device to the second mode cancels the first mode, and

wherein the image capture device consumes more energy in the first mode than in the second mode.

19. The method of claim 18 , further comprising:

in response to the image capture device being operated in the first mode and while the timer has not expired, resetting the timer.

20. The method of claim 18 , further comprising:

in response to receiving a command to set the image capture device in the second mode, cancelling the timer.
