Abstract

A display device includes a display, a light source, a housing, an optical component, and a support component. The support component includes a translucent main body, a base having a portion that protrudes outward relative to the main body, and a second holding portion provided to the base and being held by a first holding portion. The main body extends towards the optical component from a first location of a first surface of the portion of the base. The second holding portion extends from a location of the base that is spaced apart from a second location of a second surface of the portion of the base, the second location of the portion of the base being directly opposite the first location of the portion of the base.

Claims (53)

1. A display device comprising:

a display;

a light source that emits light towards the display;

a housing accommodating the light source, and including a bottom portion that has a first holding portion and a side wall that extends towards the display from an outer peripheral edge of the bottom portion;

an optical component disposed between the display and the housing; and

a support component supporting the optical component and attached to the bottom portion of the housing by the first holding portion, the support component including

a translucent main body,

a base having a portion that protrudes outward relative to the main body, and

a second holding portion provided to the base and being held by the first holding portion; and

a reflector that is disposed between the housing and the main body, and reflects the light from the light source,

the main body extending towards the optical component from a first location of a first surface of the portion of the base,

the second holding portion extending from a location of the base that is spaced apart from a second location of a second surface of the portion of the base, the second location of the portion of the base being directly opposite the first location of the portion of the base, and

the support component having a light irradiation surface at a location on the second surface of the portion of the base that overlaps with a distal end of the main body as seen in a direction perpendicular to a main face of the display, with the light irradiation surface being irradiated with the light that has been reflected by the reflector.

2. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the first holding portion includes a hole.

3. The display device according to claim 2 , wherein

the second holding portion extends through the hole to engage with the bottom portion of the housing.

4. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the second holding portion includes at least one projection engaged with the bottom portion of the housing.

5. The display device according to claim 4 , wherein

the at least one projection is located at a non-overlapping location relative to the main body as seen in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display.

6. The display device according to claim 5 , wherein

the at least one projection includes two projections, and

the two projections are located at a non-overlapping location relative to the main body as seen in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display.

7. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the second holding portion includes an attachment part that extends from the base, and a cross part that extend perpendicular to the attachment part.

8. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein

the second holding portion includes at least one projection engaged with the bottom portion of the housing.

9. The display device according to claim 8 , wherein

the at least one projection is disposed at an end portion of the cross part.

10. The display device according to claim 8 , wherein

the at least one projection is located at a non-overlapping location relative to the main body as seen in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display.

11. The display device according to claim 8 , wherein

the at least one projection includes two projections disposed at end portions of the cross part.

12. The display device according to claim 11 , wherein

the two projections are located at non-overlapping locations relative to the main body as seen in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display.

13. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein

the main body has a rectangular shape as seen in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display, and

the cross part extends in a direction parallel to a lengthwise direction of the main body.

14. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the first holding portion includes a hole, and

the reflector includes a hole at a location corresponding to the hole of the first holding portion.

15. The display device according to claim 14 , wherein

the second holding portion extends through the hole of the reflector and the hole of the first holding portion to engage with the bottom portion of the housing.

16. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

at least a part of the second holding portion is located at a non-overlapping location relative to the main body as seen in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display.

17. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the main body extends towards the optical component relative to the base, and

the second holding portion extends away from the optical component relative to the base.

18. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the distal end of the main body has a smaller area than that of an outer profile of the main body as viewed in the direction perpendicular to the main face of the display.

19. The display device according to claim 18 , wherein

the distal end of the main body contacts with the optical component.
