Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for the production of polysaccharide fibers which, as a fiber-forming substance, comprise a mixture of cellulose and α(1→3)-glucan, as well as to the fibers made thereof and to their use.

Claims (10)

1. A product comprising fiber, wherein the fiber comprises cellulose and α(1→3)-glucan, and wherein the product is a paper product or a nonwoven product.

2. The product according to claim 1 , wherein the fiber comprises between 1% and 99% by weight of said α(1→3)-glucan.

3. The product according to claim 1 , wherein at least 90% of the α(1→3)-glucan are hexose units and at least 50% of the hexose units are linked via α(1→3)-glycosidic bonds.

4. The product according to claim 1 , wherein the fiber is a staple fiber or a continuous filament.

5. The product of claim 1 , wherein the product is said nonwoven product.

6. The product of claim 1 , wherein the product is said paper product.

7. The product according to claim 2 , wherein the fiber comprises between 5% and 30% by weight of said α(1→3)-glucan.

8. The product of claim 1 , wherein the α(1→3)-glucan has a weight-average degree of polymerization between 200 and 2000.

9. The product of claim 8 , wherein the weight-average degree of polymerization is between 500 and 1000.

10. The product of claim 5 , wherein said nonwoven product is a nonwoven fabric.
