Abstract

A discontinuous reception method in a wireless communication system, including: determining to employ a consecutive carrier aggregation or a non-consecutive carrier aggregation; in case of the consecutive carrier aggregation, for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells, setting a common on-duration timer and/or a common discontinuous reception inactivity timer; and in case of the non-consecutive carrier aggregation, for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells, setting separate on-duration timers and/or separate discontinuous reception inactivity timers.

Claims (50)

1. An electronic device, comprising

circuitry configured to:

access a wireless network via multiple serving cells, the multiple serving cells comprise a first cell and a second cell;

receive a configuration signal from the wireless network, the configuration signal including first configuration information on a first periodic Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report of the first cell, and the configuration signal including second configuration information on a second Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report of the second cell, the configuration signal received when Discontinuous Reception(DRX) is configured to the electronic device, wherein the first periodic CQI report for the first cell is configured to be reported more frequently than the second periodic CQI report for the second cell; and

transmit the first periodic CQI report of the first cell based on the first configuration information and transmit the second periodic CQI report of the second cell based on the second configuration information.

2. The electronic device according to claim 1 , wherein

the the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle while the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle.

3. The electronic device according to claim 2 , wherein

in case that signal quality of the second cell is worse than a predetermined condition, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle, otherwise, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle.

4. The electronic device according to claim I, wherein the circuitry is configured to

start a DRX short cycle timer after a DRX inactivity timer expires; and

always enter a short DRX cycle in case the DRX short cycle timer expires on the first cell.

5. The electronic device according to claim I, wherein

a length of DRX cycle is set according to a transmission data amount of the electronic device, the less the transmission data amount is the longer the DRX cycle is set.

6. The electronic device according to claim I, wherein the electronic device is implemented as a user equipment.

7. An electronic device, comprising

circuitry configured to:

serve a user equipment via multiple serving cells, the multiple serving cells comprise a first cell and a second cell;

transmit a configuration signal to the user equipment, the configuration signal including first configuration information on a first periodic Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report of the first cell, and the configuration signal including second configuration information on a second Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report for the second cell, the configuration signal transmitted when Discontinuous Reception(DRX) is configured to the user equipment, wherein the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be reported more frequently than the second periodic CQI report for the second cell; and

receive the first periodic CQI report of the first cell based on the first configuration information and receive the second periodic CQI report of the second cell based on the second configuration information.

8. The electronic device according to claim 7 , wherein

the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle while the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle.

9. The electronic device according to claim 8 , wherein

in case that signal quality of the second cell is worse than a predetermined condition, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle, otherwise, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle.

10. The electronic device according to claim 7 , wherein the circuitry is configured to

configure the user equipment to always enter a short DRX cycle in case a DRX short cycle timer expires on the first cell.

11. The electronic device according to claim 7 , wherein the circuitry is configured to

set a length of DRX cycle according to a transmission data amount of the user equipment, the less the transmission data amount is the longer the DRX cycle is set.

12. The electronic device according to claim 7 , wherein the electronic device is implemented as a base station.

13. A wireless communication method for a user equipment, comprising

accessing a wireless network via multiple serving cells, the multiple serving cells comprise a first cell and a second cell;

receiving a configuration signal from the wireless network, the configuration signal including first configuration information on a first periodic Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report of the first cell, and the configuration signal including second configuration information on a second Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report for the second cell, the configuration signal received when Discontinuous Reception(DRX) is configured to the electronic device, wherein the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be reported more frequently than the second periodic CQI report for the second cell: and

transmitting the first periodic CQI report of the first cell based on the first configuration information and transmitting the second periodic CQI report of the second cell based on the second configuration information.

14. The method according to claim 13 , wherein

the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle while the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle.

15. The method according to claim 14 , wherein

in case that signal quality of the second cell is worse than a predetermined condition, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle, otherwise, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle.

16. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the circuitry is configured to

start a DRX short cycle timer after a DRX inactivity timer expires; and

always enter a short DRX cycle in case the DRX short cycle timer expires on the first cell.

17. The method according to claim 13 , wherein

a length of DRX cycle is set according to a transmission data amount of the method, the less the transmission data amount is the longer the DRX cycle is set.

18. A wireless communication method for a base station, comprising

serving a user equipment via multiple serving cells, the multiple serving cells comprise a first cell and a second cell;

transmitting a configuration signal to the user equipment, the configuration signal including first configuration information on a first periodic Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report of the first cell, and the configuration signal including second configuration information on a second Channel Quality Indicator(CQI) report for the second cell, the configuration signal transmitted when Discontinuous Reception(DRX) is configured to the user equipment, wherein the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be reported more frequently than the second periodic CQI report for the second cell; and

receiving the first periodic CQI report of the first cell based on the first configuration information and receive the second periodic CQI report of the and second cell based on the second configuration information.

19. The method according to claim 18 , wherein

the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle while the first periodic CQI report of the first cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle.

20. The method according to claim 19 , wherein

in case that signal quality of the second cell is worse than a predetermined condition, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during active time in a DRX cycle, otherwise, the second periodic CQI report of the second cell is configured to be transmitted during on-duration time in a DRX cycle.
