Abstract

A building management system includes one or more computer-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to receive threats, the threats each indicating an incident affecting a dynamic risk score associated with an asset, wherein one or more of the threats are current threats that are active at a current point in time and one or more of the threats are historic threats that were active at one or more past times. The instructions cause the one or more processors to generate, based on the one or more current threats, the dynamic risk score at the current point in time, generate, based on the one or more historic threats, a baseline risk score, and cause a user interface to display an indication of the dynamic risk score at the current point in time and an indication of the baseline risk score.

Claims (75)

1. A building management system comprising:

one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

receive a plurality of threats, the plurality of threats each indicating an incident affecting a dynamic risk score associated with an asset, wherein one or more of the plurality of threats are current threats that are actively affecting the dynamic risk score at a current point in time and a portion of the plurality of threats are historic threats that are no longer affecting the dynamic risk score at the current point in time and were previously affecting the dynamic risk score at one or more past times, wherein the one or more past times occur prior to the current point in time;

generate, based on the current threats, the dynamic risk score at the current point in time;

generate, based on the historic threats, an average risk score by averaging the historic threats at the current point in time;

record the average risk score over a period of time as new threats are received;

record the dynamic risk score over the period of time as the new threats are received; and

cause a user interface to display a risk trend element, the risk trend element including an average risk trend and a dynamic risk trend, wherein the average risk trend is based on the average risk score recorded over the period of time and the dynamic risk trend is based on the dynamic risk score recorded over the period of time.

2. The building management system of claim 1 , wherein the historic threats are stored in the one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media, wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to:

determine that a predefined amount of time has passed;

retrieve the historic threats from the one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media in response to a determination that the predefined amount of time has passed; and

generate, based on the historic threats, the average risk score.

3. The building management system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to execute the instructions to generate, based on the historic threats, the average risk score by averaging a historic dynamic risk score associated with each of the historic threats.

4. The building management system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to cause the user interface to display a first indication of the dynamic risk score at the current point in time and a second indication of the average risk score by:

generating an asset risk card element, the asset risk card element comprising an indication of the asset, the first indication of the dynamic risk score at the current point in time, and the second indication of the average risk score; and

causing the user interface to display the asset risk card element.

5. The building management system of claim 1 , wherein each of the historic threats comprises one of a plurality of threat types;

wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute the instructions to:

determine a first category average risk score for the asset based on one or more of the historic threats comprising a first threat type of the plurality of threat types;

determine a second category average risk score for the asset based on one or more of the historic threats comprising a second threat type of the plurality of threat types; and

cause the user interface to display an indication of the first category average risk score and the second category average risk score.

6. The building management system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to:

determine a total change in the dynamic risk score over the period of time based on a first dynamic risk score at a beginning of the period of time and a last dynamic risk score at an end of the period of time;

determine whether the dynamic risk score is rising or falling over the period of time based on the first dynamic risk score at the beginning of the period of time and the last dynamic risk score at the end of the period of time; and

cause the risk trend element to include an indication of the total change in the dynamic risk score and a change indication of whether the dynamic risk score is rising or falling over the period of time.

7. The building management system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to:

receive a new threat for the asset, the new threat comprising an expiry time and affecting the dynamic risk score of the asset;

determine, based on the expiry time, whether the new threat is active;

determine a new dynamic risk score for the new threat in response to a determination that the new threat is active;

retrieve, from the one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media, one or more active threats associated with the asset, each of the one or more active threats being associated with one dynamic risk score; and

determine the dynamic risk score for the asset based on the new dynamic risk score for the new threat and dynamic risk scores for the one or more active threats.

8. The building management system of claim 7 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to:

store the new threat in the one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media with a status, wherein the status is active; and

update the status of the new threat to closed in response to a second determination that the expiry time has passed.

9. A method for risk analysis, the method comprising:

receiving a plurality of threats, the plurality of threats each indicating an incident affecting a dynamic risk score associated with an asset, wherein one or more of the plurality of threats are current threats that are actively affecting the dynamic risk score active at a current point in time and one or more of the plurality of threats are historic threats that are no longer affecting the dynamic risk score at the current point in time and were previously affecting the dynamic risk score at one or more past times, wherein the one or more past times occur prior to the current point in time;

generating, based on the current threats, the dynamic risk score at the current point in time;

generating, based on the historic threats, an average risk score by averaging the historic threats at the current point in time;

recording the average risk score over a period of time as new threats are received;

recording the dynamic risk score over the period of time as the new threats are received; and

causing a user interface to display a risk trend element, the risk trend element including an average risk trend and a dynamic risk trend, wherein the average risk trend is based on the average risk score recorded over the period of time and the dynamic risk trend is based on the dynamic risk score recorded over the period of time.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising determining the dynamic risk score based on:

a vulnerability parameter associated with the asset;

an asset cost parameter associated with the asset;

a severity associated with the current threats; and

a geographic distance between the asset and the current threats.

11. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

causing the user interface to display a first indication of the dynamic risk score at the current point in time and a second indication of the average risk score comprises:

generating an asset risk card element, the asset risk card element comprising an indication of the asset, the first indication of the dynamic risk score at the current point in time, and the second indication of the average risk score; and

causing the user interface to display the asset risk card element.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein each of the historic threats comprises one of a plurality of threat types;

wherein the method further comprises:

determining a first category average risk score for the asset based on one or more of the historic threats comprising a first threat type of the plurality of threat types;

determining a second category average risk score for the asset based on one or more of the historic threats comprising a second threat type of the plurality of threat types; and

causing the user interface to display an indication of the first category average risk score and the second category average risk score.

13. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

determining a total change in the dynamic risk score over the period of time based on a first dynamic risk score at a beginning of the period of time and a last dynamic risk score at an end of the period of time;

determining whether the dynamic risk score is rising or falling over the period of time based on the first dynamic risk score at the beginning of the period of time and the last dynamic risk score at the end of the period of time; and

causing the risk trend element to include an indication of the total change in the dynamic risk score and change indication of whether the dynamic risk score is rising or falling over the period of time.

14. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

receiving a new threat for the asset, the new threat comprising an expiry time and affecting the dynamic risk score of the asset;

determining, based on the expiry time, whether the new threat is active;

determining a new dynamic risk score for the new threat in response to a determination that the new threat is active;

retrieving, from one or more computer readable medium, one or more active threats associated with the asset, each of the one or more active threats being associated with one dynamic risk score; and

determining the dynamic risk score for the asset based on the new dynamic risk score for the new threat and dynamic risk scores for the one or more active threats.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

storing the new threat in the one or more computer readable medium with a status, wherein the status is active; and

updating the status of the new threat to closed in response to a second determination that the expiry time has passed.

A risk analysis system comprising: one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media communicably coupled to one or more processors and configured to store instructions; and the one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to: receive a plurality of threats, the plurality of threats each indicating an incident affecting a dynamic risk score associated with an asset, wherein one or more of the plurality of threats are current threats that are actively affecting the dynamic risk score at a current point in time and a portion of the plurality of threats are historic threats that are no longer affecting the dynamic risk score at the current point in time and were previously affecting the dynamic risk score at one or more past times, wherein the one or more past times occur prior to the current point in time; generate, based on the current threats, the dynamic risk score at the current point in time; generate, based on the historic threats, an average risk score by averaging the historic threats at the current point in time; record the average risk score over a period of time as new threats are received: record the dynamic risk score over the period of time as the new threats are received; and cause a user interface to display a risk trend element, the risk trend element including an average risk trend and a dynamic risk trend, wherein the average risk trend is based on the average risk score recorded over the period of time and the dynamic risk trend is based on the dynamic risk score recorded over the period of time.

17. The risk analysis system of claim 16 , wherein the dynamic risk score is on a scale from zero to one hundred.

18. The risk analysis system of claim 16 , further comprising determining the dynamic risk score based on:

a vulnerability parameter associated with the asset;

an asset cost parameter associated with the asset;

a severity associated with the current threats; and

a geographic distance between the asset and the current threats.
