Abstract

The disclosure relates to devices, systems, and methods to set, adjust, and/or maintain lumen levels of luminaires in a lighting system, for example. The lights may be a plurality of Light Emitting Diode (LED)-based luminaires, which are part of a smart illumination system. In certain exemplary embodiments, sensor subsystems detect degradation of luminaire lumen levels and servers/gateways are used to adjust dimming controls to reestablish proper lumen levels and predict a half-life or end of life for the luminaires.

Claims (9)

1. A system for maintaining a lumen level in a luminaire, comprising:

a gateway configured to control at least one of a dimming level and a dimming control protocol of a luminaire;

a sensor subsystem in data communication with the gateway and configured to measure a lumen level of the luminaire;

a power meter in data communication with the gateway and configured to measure power consumption of the luminaire;

a server in data communication with at least one of the gateway and the sensor subsystem; and,

a luminaire database in data communication with the server, wherein the luminaire database is configured to collect information related to the luminaire including at least one of the specific type of luminaire, fitting, dimming components, and test data, sensor reading ranges, dimming level, lumen level, and power consumption from the server, sensor subsystem, gateway, and power meter, and

the server is configured to generate a luminaire degradation profile based on the information in the luminaire database, update a luminaire degradation profile based on the information in the luminaire database, or generate and update a luminaire degradation profile based on the information in the luminaire database.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is further configured to determine a correlation between the lumen level of the luminaire and the dimming level of the luminaire, based at least in part on the luminaire degradation profile.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the server is further configured to instruct the gateway to adjust at least one of the dimming level and the dimming control protocol of the luminaire to generate a particular lumen level of the luminaire, based at least in part on the luminaire degradation profile.
