Abstract

An electronic device lacking an internal power supply comprises electronic circuitry, an external power adapter having an input connector for receiving AC power from a conventional AC power outlet and for providing a low-voltage output signal to an output connector, and a first port electronically coupled to the electronic circuitry for receiving the low-voltage output signal from the output connector of the power adapter and for providing the low-voltage output signal to the electronic circuitry.

Claims (9)

1. An electronic device, comprising:

a housing that contains direct current powered electronic circuitry, the housing comprising a depression formed into a rear surface of the housing, the depression sized and shaped to receive and contain a sealed power adapter having a first port, wherein the depression includes a second port electronically coupled to the electronic circuitry adapted to be removably coupled to the first port of the sealed power adapter and to receive direct current power from the first port of the sealed power adapter for provision to the electronic circuitry when the sealed power adapter is contained within the depression;

wherein the electronic device further comprises:

a side wall formed by the depression; and

an opening in the side wall for allowing the second port to protrude into the depression; and

wherein the second port comprises a male USB connector and the first port comprises a female USB connector.

2. An electronic device, comprising:

a housing that contains direct current powered electronic circuitry, the housing comprising a depression formed into a rear surface of the housing, the depression sized and shaped to receive and contain a sealed power adapter having a first port, wherein the depression includes a second port electronically coupled to the electronic circuitry adapted to be removably coupled to the first port of the sealed power adapter and to receive direct current power from the first port of the sealed power adapter for provision to the electronic circuitry when the sealed power adapter is contained within the depression;

wherein the second port comprises a male USB connector and the first port comprises a female USB connector.
