Abstract

The application discloses a light-emitting device including a carrier, a light-emitting element and a connecting structure. The carrier includes a first connecting portion and a first necking portion extended from the first connecting portion. The first connecting portion has a first width, and the first necking portion has a second width. The second width is less than the first width. The light-emitting element includes a first light-emitting layer being able to emit a first light and a first contacting electrode formed under the first light-emitting layer. The first contacting electrode is corresponded to the first connecting portion. The connecting structure includes a first electrical connecting portion and a protection portion surrounding the first electrical connecting portion. The first electrical connecting portion is electrically connected to the first connecting portion and the first contacting electrode. The first connecting portion substantially is located within a range surrounded by the protection portion.

Claims (23)

1. A light-emitting device, comprising:

a carrier comprising an insulating layer and an upper conductive layer formed on the insulating layer, the upper conductive layer comprising a first connecting portion and a first necking portion extended from the first connecting portion;

a first light-emitting unit comprising a bottom surface, a top surface opposite to the bottom surface, a side surface located between the bottom surface and the top surface, and a first contacting electrode formed under the bottom surface;

a connecting structure arranged between the carrier and the first light-emitting unit, and comprising a first electrical connecting portion connecting the first connecting portion and the first contacting electrode, and a first protection portion directly contacting the insulating layer of the carrier and the bottom surface of the first light-emitting unit without contacting the top surface of the first light-emitting unit; and

a transparent unit directly contacting the carrier, the first protection portion, the top surface, and the side surface, and

wherein the first protection portion has an outermost surface that is not coplanar with the side surface.

2. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the first connecting portion has a first width, and the first necking portion has a second width smaller than the first width; and wherein a ratio of the second width to the first width is smaller than 0.6.

3. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the first light-emitting unit further comprises a second contacting electrode, and the second contacting electrode is formed under the bottom surface.

4. The light-emitting device according to claim 3 , wherein the connecting structure further comprises a second electrical connecting portion electrically connected with the second contacting electrode, and the first protection portion surrounds the second electrical connecting portion.

5. The light-emitting device according to claim 3 , wherein the connecting structure further comprises a second electrical connecting portion electrically connected with the second contacting electrode, and a second protection portion separated from the first protection portion and surrounding the second electrical connecting portion.

6. The light-emitting device according to claim 3 , wherein the carrier further comprises a second connecting portion corresponding to the second contacting electrode, and a smallest distance between the first connecting portion and the second connecting portion is smaller than 100 μm.

7. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the first electrical connecting portion comprises a surface with a bumpy structure.

8. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising a second light-emitting unit, wherein the first light-emitting unit and the second light-emitting unit are configured to emit different color lights.

9. The light-emitting device according to claim 8 , further comprising a second connecting portion electrically connecting the second light-emitting unit and the first connecting portion.

10. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the side surface has at least a portion exposed from the first protection portion.

11. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising a lower conductive layer formed under the insulating layer and electrically connected to the upper conductive layer.

12. The light-emitting device according to claim 11 , wherein the carrier has a corner and a conductive through hole formed at the corner and connecting the upper conductive layer and the lower conductive layer.

13. The light-emitting device according to claim 11 , wherein the first necking portion has a first side surface coplanar with the lower conductive layer.

14. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the first necking portion has a first side surface coplanar with the carrier.

15. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the carrier has a periphery and the first necking portion extends to the periphery.

16. The light-emitting device according to claim 15 , further comprising a lower conductive layer formed under the insulating layer and extending to the periphery.

17. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising a light-absorbing layer formed on the insulating layer in a configuration of not covering the upper conductive layer.

18. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent unit has a flat topmost surface.
