Abstract

A policy and charging rules function (PCRF) receives from a mission critical video (MCVideo) application function, a DIAMETER AA-Request (AAR) command to establish an MCVideo bearer. The DIAMEER AAR command comprises: an attribute value pair (AVP) comprising an MCVideo-identifier identifying an MCVideo service; one or more quality of service (QoS) parameters indicating a QoS of the MCVideo service; and a priority of the MCVideo service. The PCRF determines one or more policy and charging control (PCC) provisions, based on: the MCVideo-identifier, the one or more QoS parameters, and the priority of the MCVideo service. The PCRF transmits a DIAMETER command to a policy charging enforcement function (PCEF). The DIAMETER command comprises the one or more PCC provisions.

Claims (43)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a policy and charging rules function (PCRF) from a mission critical video (MCVideo) application function, a DIAMETER AA-Request (AAR) command to establish an MCVideo bearer, wherein the DIAMEER AAR command comprises:

an attribute value pair (AVP) comprising an MCVideo-identifier identifying an MCVideo service;

one or more quality of service (QoS) parameters indicating a QoS of the MCVideo service; and

a priority of the MCVideo service;

determining, by the PCRF, one or more policy and charging control (PCC) provisions based on: the MCVideo-identifier, the one or more QoS parameters, and the priority of the MCVideo service; and

transmitting, by the PCRF to a policy charging enforcement function (PCEF), a DIAMETER command comprising the one or more PCC provisions.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising enforcing, by the PCEF, the one or more PCC provisions for the QoS on a plurality of packets transmitted via the MCVideo bearer.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising establishing, for an MCVideo application, the MCVideo bearer for a mission critical video call among a plurality of wireless devices comprising:

a first wireless device; and

a second wireless device.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising modifying, by the MCVideo application function, a floor of a floor control from the first wireless device to the second wireless device for the mission critical video call.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the modifying the floor control is performed by the first wireless device in response to releasing the floor.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MCVideo bearer is a dedicated evolved packet system (EPS) bearer.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more QoS parameters indicate a priority.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein a session initiation protocol (SIP) Resource-Priority header field triggers the DIAMETER AAR command.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MCVideo application function resides in at least one of:

a MCVideo application server; and

a proxy call session control function.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein a session initiation protocol Resource-Priority header field triggers the first request and indicates an emergency priority.

11. A policy and charging rules function (PCRF) device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the PCRF device to:

receive, from a mission critical video (MCVideo) application function, a DIAMETER AA-Request (AAR) command to establish an MCVideo bearer, wherein the DIAMEER AAR command comprises:

an attribute value pair (AVP) comprising an MCVideo-identifier identifying an MCVideo service;

one or more quality of service (QoS) parameters indicating a QoS of the MCVideo service; and

a priority of the MCVideo service;

determine one or more policy and charging control (PCC) provisions based on:

the MCVideo-identifier, the one or more QoS parameters, and the priority of the MCVideo service; and

transmit, to a policy charging enforcement function (PCEF), a DIAMETER command comprising the one or more PCC provisions.

12. The PCRF device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the PCRF device to enforce the one or more PCC provisions for the QoS on a plurality of packets transmitted via the MCVideo bearer.

13. The PCRF device of claim 11 , further comprising establishing, for an MCVideo application, the MCVideo bearer for a mission critical video call among a plurality of wireless devices comprising:

a first wireless device; and

a second wireless device.

14. The PCRF device of claim 13 , wherein, the MCVideo application function modifies a floor of a floor control from the first wireless device to the second wireless device for the mission critical video call.

15. The PCRF device of claim 14 , wherein the floor control is modified by the first wireless device in response to releasing the floor.

16. The PCRF device of claim 11 , wherein the MCVideo bearer is a dedicated evolved packet system (EPS) bearer.

17. The PCRF device according to claim 11 , wherein the one or more QoS parameters indicate a priority.

18. The PCRF device of claim 11 , wherein a session initiation protocol (SIP) Resource-Priority header field triggers the DIAMETER AAR command.

19. The PCRF device of claim 11 , wherein the MCVideo application function resides in at least one of:

a MCVideo application server; and

a proxy call session control function.

20. The PCRF device of claim 11 , wherein a session initiation protocol Resource-Priority header field triggers the first request and indicates an emergency priority.
