Abstract

A network node, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), and system for operating a wireless network is disclosed. A first network node receives a radio resource control (RRC) message from a WTRU, the RRC message including WTRU capability information. The first network node then sends an application protocol message having RRC information to a second network node for use by the second network node to configure uplink resources for the WTRU, the RRC information including the WTRU capability information and physical channel configuration information of the WTRU.
