Abstract

A method and apparatus for monitoring downlink control information (DCI) in a wireless communication system, especially in a new radio access technology (NR) is provided. A user equipment (UE) monitors first DCI having a first size in a UE specific search space (USS). The the first size is determined based on an active bandwidth part (BWP). The UE further monitors second DCI having a second size in a common search space (CSS). The second size is determined based on a default BWP.

Claims (40)

1. A method for monitoring downlink control information (DCI) by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

monitoring, by the UE, the DCI transmitted from a network in either a UE specific search space (USS) or a common search space (CSS); and

receiving, by the UE, downlink data based on the DCI from the network,

1) when the DCI is monitored in the USS:

wherein the downlink data includes data specified to the UE, and

wherein a size of a field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI is determined based on an activated bandwidth part (BWP) among BWPs assigned to the UE,

2) when the DCI is monitored in the CSS:

wherein the downlink data includes at least one of remaining minimum system information (RMSI), a random access response (RAR) or a paging, and

wherein a size of a field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI is determined based on an initial BWP among BWPs assigned to the UE.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the DCI is a fallback DCI when the DCI is monitored in the CSS.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI indicates a bandwidth of the activated BWP when the DCI is monitored in the USS.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI indicates a bandwidth of the initial BWP when the DCI is monitored in the CSS.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the DCI is monitored in at least one slot.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the DCI includes first information on an index of a start slot of the at least one slot and second information on a combination of a start symbol and a length of symbols in each of the at least one slot.

7. A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

a memory;

a transceiver, and

a processor, operably coupled to the memory and the transceiver, wherein the UE is configured to:

monitor, via the transceiver, downlink control information (DCI) transmitted from a network in either a UE specific search space (USS) or a common search space (CSS) via the transceiver; and

receive, via the transceiver, downlink data based on the DCI from the network,

8. A method for transmitting downlink control information (DCI) by a base station (BS) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting the DCI to a user equipment (UE) in either a UE specific search space (USS) or a common search space (CSS); and

transmitting downlink data based on the DCI to the UE,

1) when the DCI is transmitted in the USS:

wherein the downlink data includes data specified to the UE, and

wherein a size of a field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI is determined based on an activated bandwidth part (BWP) among BWPs assigned to the UE,

2) when the DCI is transmitted in the CSS:

wherein the downlink data includes at least one of remaining minimum system information (RMSI), a random access response (RAR) or a paging, and

wherein a size of a field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI is determined based on an initial BWP among BWPs assigned to the UE.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the DCI is a fallback DCI when the DCI is transmitted in the CSS.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI indicates a bandwidth of the activated BWP when the DCI is transmitted in the USS.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the field related to frequency resource allocation in the DCI indicates a bandwidth of the initial BWP when the DCI is transmitted in the CSS.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the DCI is transmitted in at least one slot.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the DCI includes first information on an index of a start slot of the at least one slot and second information on a combination of a start symbol and a length of symbols in each of the at least one slot.
