Abstract

Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has improved battery durability in the battery having a high capacity, a high density, and a large area. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a power generating element including a positive electrode in which a positive electrode active material layer containing a positive electrode active material is formed on a surface of a positive electrode current collector, a negative electrode in which a negative electrode active material layer containing a negative electrode active material is formed on a surface of a negative electrode current collector, and a separator, a ratio of a rated capacity to a pore volume of the positive electrode active material layer being 1.40 Ah/cc or more, a ratio of a battery area to a rated capacity being 4.0 cm 2 /Ah or more, and a rated capacity being 30 Ah or more, wherein a variation in porosity in the positive electrode active material layer is 6.0% or less.

Claims (10)

1 . A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a power generating element including

a positive electrode in which a positive electrode active material layer containing a positive electrode active material is formed on a surface of a positive electrode current collector,

a negative electrode in which a negative electrode active material layer containing a negative electrode active material is formed on a surface of a negative electrode current collector, and

a separator,

a ratio of a rated capacity to a pore volume of the positive electrode active material layer being 1.40 Ah/cc or more, a ratio of a battery area to a rated capacity being 4.0 cm 2 /Ah or more, and a rated capacity being 30 Ah or more, wherein

a variation in porosity in the positive electrode active material layer is 6.0% or less.

2 . The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 1 , wherein the ratio of the rated capacity to the pore volume of the positive electrode active material layer is 2.20 Ah/cc or more, and the variation in porosity in the positive electrode active material layer is 5.0% or less.

3 . The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 1 or 2 , wherein the variation in porosity in the positive electrode active material layer is 4.0% or less.

4 . The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to any one of claims 1 to 3 , wherein the positive electrode active material is a lithium composite oxide having a composition represented by Li a Ni b Mn c Co d M x O 2 (provided that, in the formula, a, b, c, d, and x satisfy 0.9≤a≤1.2, 0<b<1, 0<c≤0.5, 0<d≤0.5, and 0≤x≤0.3; and M is at least one kind selected from Ti, Zr, Nb, W, P, Al, Mg, V, Ca, Sr, and Cr).

5 . The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to any one of claims 1 to 4 , wherein the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is a flat type non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
