Abstract

An apparatus for generating broadcast signal frame according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a combiner configured to generate a multiplexed signal by combining a core layer signal and an enhanced layer signal; a power normalizer configured to reduce power of the multiplexed signal to a power level corresponding to the core layer signal; a time interleaver configured to generate a time-interleaved signal by performing time-interleaving that is applied to both the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal; and a frame builder configured to generate a broadcast signal frame including a preamble for signaling start position information and size information for each of Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs). In this case, the Physical Layer Pipes include a core layer physical layer pipe corresponding to the core layer signal and an enhanced layer physical layer pipe corresponding to the enhanced layer signal.

Claims (12)

1. An apparatus for generating a broadcast signal frame, comprising:

a combiner configured to generate a multiplexed signal by combining a core layer signal and an enhanced layer signal;

a power normalizer configured to reduce power of the multiplexed signal to a power level corresponding to the core layer signal;

a time interleaver configured to generate a time-interleaved signal by performing time-interleaving that is applied to both a core layer corresponding to the core layer signal and an enhanced layer corresponding to the enhanced layer signal; and

a frame builder configured to generate a broadcast signal frame including a preamble for signaling start position information and size information for each of Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs),

wherein the Physical Layer Pipes include at least one core layer physical layer pipe corresponding to the core layer signal and at least one enhanced layer physical layer pipe corresponding to the enhanced layer signal,

wherein the start position information and the size information for the core layer physical layer pipe are defined within a current subframe,

wherein the start position information and the size information of the enhanced layer physical later pipe are defined with respect to before the time-interleaving.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the start position information and the size information of the core layer physical layer pipe are defined with respect to after the time-interleaving.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the size information is set based on the number of data cells allocated to each of the Physical Layer Pipes.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the start position information is set equal to an index corresponding to the first data cell of each of the Physical Layer Pipes.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the start position information and the size information are signaled independently of layer identification information.
