Abstract

In a display device including a pixel arranged therein, the pixel including a light emitting unit in which an anode electrode is formed in the uppermost layer of a multilayer wiring structure formed by alternately stacking a plurality of insulating layers and a plurality of wiring layers, and a capacitor element electrically connected to the anode electrode of the light emitting unit, or in an electronic device including the display device, the capacitor element including a first electrode formed in a wiring layer below the anode electrode, a second electrode formed opposite to the first electrode, and attached to the anode electrode of the light emitting unit via a conductive rib, and a first insulating layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode.

Claims (47)

1. A display device comprising:

a multilayer wiring structure formed by alternately stacking a plurality of insulating layers and a plurality of wiring layers, the plurality of wiring layers including a first wiring layer, a second wiring layer formed above the first wiring layer, and a third wiring layer formed above the second wiring layer; and

a pixel comprising a light emitting unit, a first capacitor element and a second capacitor element, wherein

an anode electrode of the light emitting unit is formed in the third wiring layer,

the first capacitor element is electrically connected to the anode electrode,

the second capacitor element is electrically connected to the anode electrode,

in a cross-section perspective, the first capacitor element includes

a first electrode formed in the second wiring layer below the anode electrode,

a second electrode formed between the anode electrode and the first electrode, opposite to the first electrode, and electrically connected to the anode electrode via a first contact unit that extends between the second electrode and the anode electrode in the cross-section perspective, and

a first insulating layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, and

in the cross-section perspective, the second capacitor element includes

a third electrode formed between the first wiring layer and the second wiring layer, and

a fourth electrode formed in the first wiring layer and electrically connected to the anode electrode.

2. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the pixel comprises a driving transistor that drives the light emitting unit, and a writing transistor that writes a signal to a gate electrode of the driving transistor, and

the first and second capacitor elements are connected in parallel and are arranged between the gate electrode of the driving transistor and the anode electrode of the light emitting unit, and hold the signal written by the writing transistor.

3. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the pixel is one of a plurality of pixels, and a substrate on which the plurality of pixels are two-dimensionally arranged is a semiconductor substrate.

4. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein

the light emitting unit comprises an organic electroluminescence element.

5. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the fourth electrode is electrically connected to the anode electrode via a second contact unit.

6. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first electrode is electrically connected to the third electrode via a third contact unit.

7. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the second electrode is directly electrically connected to the anode electrode via the first contact unit.

8. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the second electrode is directly electrically connected to the anode electrode via the first contact unit and a second contact unit.

9. An electronic device comprising:

a display device comprising

a multilayer wiring structure formed by alternately stacking a plurality of insulating layers and a plurality of wiring layers, the plurality of wiring layers including a first wiring layer, a second wiring layer formed above the first wiring layer, and a third wiring layer formed above the second wiring layer; and

a pixel comprising a light emitting unit, a first capacitor element and a second capacitor element, wherein

an anode electrode of the light emitting unit is formed in the third wiring layer,

the first capacitor element is electrically connected to the anode electrode,

the second capacitor element is electrically connected to the anode electrode,

in a cross-section perspective, the first capacitor element includes

a first electrode formed in the second wiring layer below the anode electrode,

a second electrode formed between the anode electrode and the first electrode, opposite to the first electrode, and electrically connected to the anode electrode via a first contact unit that extends between the second electrode and the anode electrode in the cross-section perspective, and

a first insulating layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, and

in the cross-section perspective, the second capacitor element includes

a third electrode formed between the first wiring layer and the second wiring layer, and

a fourth electrode formed in the first wiring layer and electrically connected to the anode electrode.

10. The electronic device according to claim 9 , wherein

the pixel comprises a driving transistor that drives the light emitting unit, and a writing transistor that writes a signal to a gate electrode of the driving transistor, and

the first and second capacitor elements are connected in parallel and are arranged between the gate electrode of the driving transistor and the anode electrode of the light emitting unit, and hold the signal written by the writing transistor.

11. The electronic device according to claim 9 , wherein the pixel is one of a plurality of pixels, and a substrate on which the plurality of pixels are two-dimensionally arranged is a semiconductor substrate.

12. The electronic device according to claim 9 , wherein

the light emitting unit comprises an organic electroluminescence element.

13. The electronic device according to claim 9 , wherein the fourth electrode is electrically connected to the anode electrode via a second contact unit.

14. The electronic device according to claim 9 , wherein the first electrode is electrically connected to the third electrode via a third contact unit.

15. The electronic device according to claim 9 , wherein the second electrode is directly electrically connected to the anode electrode via the first contact unit.

16. The electronic device according to claim 15 , wherein the second electrode is directly electrically connected to the anode electrode via the first contact unit and a second contact unit.
