Abstract

The present disclosure provides an intelligent lighting control system. A detector circuit of a lighting control module detects a line voltage of an electrical line connected to a power terminal of the light control module. The lighting control module is configured to cause a transmission of a quantity of electrical energy to a lighting circuit of a light fixture electrically connected to the lighting control module. The lighting control module reduces a flow of electricity transmitted to the lighting circuit to turn off the respective light fixture in response to detecting substantially no change in the line voltage over a pre-specified period of time.

Claims (34)

1. A method of controlling a lighting control system comprising:

detecting, via a detector circuit connected to a lighting control module, an AC line voltage of an electrical line connected to a power terminal of the lighting control module, the lighting control module configured to cause a transmission of a quantity of electrical energy to a lighting circuit of a light fixture electrically connected to the power terminal;

detecting whether a change in the AC line voltage exceeds a threshold over a pre-specified period of time; and

in response to detecting that the change in the AC line voltage does not exceed the threshold over the pre-specified period of time, reducing a flow of electricity transmitted to the lighting circuit to turn off the light fixture and displaying an icon on a tactile display coupled to the lighting control module.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising increasing the flow of electricity transmitted to the lighting circuit in response to detecting that the change in the AC line voltage exceeds the threshold.

3. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising reducing the flow of electricity to substantially zero to preclude illumination of a light bulb connected to the light fixture.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the reduction of the flow of electricity is a gradual reduction configured to dim a light bulb connected to the light fixture.

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising detecting the change in the AC line voltage that is not initiated by the lighting control module.

6. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising adjusting the pre-specified period of time based on a history of measuring the change in the AC line voltage.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein detecting whether a change in the AC line voltage exceeds the threshold, further comprises detecting the change via a current sensor.

8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein detecting whether a change in the AC line voltage exceeds the threshold, further comprises detecting the change via a voltage sensor.

9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein detecting whether a change in the AC line voltage exceeds the threshold, further comprises detecting the change via a transformer.

10. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising sensing a lighting level of the light fixture.

11. The method according to claim 10 , further comprising increasing the flow of electricity transmitted to the lighting circuit to return the light fixture to a prior level in response to sensing the change in the AC line voltage.

12. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising gradually increasing a power to the lighting circuit back to a prior level.

13. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising wirelessly transmitting a control command to another lighting control module to cause the another lighting control module to reduce another flow of electricity transmitted to another lighting circuit to turn off another light fixture in response to detecting no change in the AC line voltage exceeding the threshold over the pre-specified period of time.

14. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the threshold is at least 20 Volts.

15. A lighting control system comprising:

a lighting control module configured to cause a transmission of a quantity of electrical energy to a lighting circuit of a light fixture electrically connected to a power terminal of the lighting control module;

a detector circuit connected to the power terminal;

a tactile display coupled to the lighting control module; and

a controller coupled to the detector circuit and the lighting control module, the controller configured to:

detect, via the detector circuit, an AC line voltage of an electrical line connected to the power terminal of the lighting control module, and

reduce a flow of electricity transmitted to the lighting circuit to turn off the light fixture and display an icon on the tactile display in response to detecting no change in the AC line voltage exceeding a threshold over a pre-specified period of time.

16. The lighting control system of claim 15 , wherein the controller is further configured to increase the flow of electricity transmitted to the lighting circuit to return the light fixture to a prior level in response to sensing a change in the AC line voltage.

17. The lighting control system of claim 15 , wherein the reduction of the flow of electricity is a gradual reduction configured to dim a light bulb connected to the light fixture.

18. The lighting control system of claim 15 , wherein the threshold is at least 20 Volts.

19. An apparatus comprising:

a lighting control module configured to transmit of a quantity of electrical energy to a lighting circuit of a light fixture electrically connected to a power terminal of the lighting control module, wherein the light fixture is connected to a smart light bulb;

a detector circuit connected to the power terminal;

a tactile display coupled to the lighting control module; and

a controller coupled to the detector circuit and the lighting control module, the controller configured to:

detect, using the detector circuit, an AC line voltage of an electrical line connected to the power terminal of the lighting control module, and

suddenly increase the quantity of electrical energy transmitted to the lighting circuit of the light fixture and display an icon on the tactile display in response to detecting a change in the line voltage exceeding a threshold.
