Abstract

A computer-executable method, a computer system and a non-transitory computer-readable medium are provided for enabling download of a promotion application program provided by a promotion and marketing service. The method includes using a computer-executable tool on a first application program to initiate a determination of whether a promotion application program is installed on the mobile computing device. The method includes, upon determining that the promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device, using the first application program to indicate an impression of a promotion in association with a representation of the promotion application program. The representation of the promotion application program is configured to enable download of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device.

Claims (65)

1. A computer-executable method, executed by a mobile computing device, for incentivizing use, by the mobile computing device, of a promotion application program, the method comprising:

receiving, by the mobile computing device, a computer-executable tool for incorporation into a first application program, the first application program configured for installation on the mobile computing device;

upon installation, by the mobile computing device, of the first application program on the mobile computing device, incorporating the computer-executable tool into the first application program;

upon incorporation of the computer-executable tool into the first application program, using the computer-executable tool to programmatically initiate a determination that a promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device by:

attempting access, by the mobile computing device via the computer-executable tool of an application program link corresponding to the promotion application program, without operational changes to processes running on the mobile computing device, to determine the application program link is associated with an unresolved state, and wherein the promotion application program enables access to a promotion and marketing service;

upon determining that the promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device, rendering, by the mobile computing device and to a user of the mobile computing device via a user interface associated with the first application program, (i) a representation of the promotion application program and (ii) an impression of a promotion,

wherein the representation of the promotion application program is configured to cause the first application program to initiate download of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device;

verifying installation of the promotion application program; and

upon verification of the installation of the promotion application program, providing, by the computer-executable tool, the promotion.

2. The computer-executable method of claim 1 , further comprising:

upon receiving a selection of the representation of the promotion application program, causing the first application program to initiate downloading of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device.

3. The computer-executable method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining, by the computer-executable tool, information about user interactions with the first application program;

storing the obtained information;

in response to installation of the promotion application program, transmitting the stored information for use by the promotion application program; and

providing the impression of the promotion by the promotion application program.

4. The computer executable method of claim 1 , wherein the promotion is offered through the promotion and marketing service.

5. One or more non-transitory computer-readable media having encoded thereon one or more computer-executable instructions for incentivizing use of a promotion application program, wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by a mobile computing device, cause the mobile computing device to:

receive, by the mobile computing device, a computer-executable tool for incorporation into a first application program, the first application program configured for installation on the mobile computing device;

upon installation, by the mobile computing device, of the first application program on the mobile computing device, incorporate the computer-executable tool into the first application program;

upon incorporation of the computer-executable tool into the first application program, use the computer-executable tool to programmatically initiate a determination that a promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device by:

attempting access, by the mobile computing device via the computer-executable tool of an application program link corresponding to the promotion application program, without operational changes to processes running on the mobile computing device, to determine the application program link is associated with an unresolved state, and wherein the promotion application program enables access to a promotion and marketing service;

upon determining that the promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device, render, to a user of the mobile computing device via a user interface associated with the first application program, (i) a representation of the promotion application program and (ii) an impression of a promotion,

wherein the representation of the promotion application program is configured to cause the first application program to initiate download of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device;

verify installation of the promotion application program; and

upon verification of the installation of the promotion application program, provide, by the computer-executable tool, the promotion.

6. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 5 , wherein the or more computer-executable instructions, when executed, further cause the mobile computing device to:

upon receipt of a selection of the representation of the promotion application program, initiate downloading of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device.

7. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 5 , wherein the or more computer-executable instructions, when executed, further cause the mobile computing device to:

obtain, by the computer-executable tool, information about user interactions with the first application program;

store the obtained information;

in response to installation of the promotion application program, transmit the stored information for use by the promotion application program; and

provide the impression of the promotion by the promotion application program.

8. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 5 , and wherein the promotion is offered through the promotion and marketing service.

9. A mobile computing device that incentivizes use of a promotion application program, the mobile computing device comprising:

a storage device;

a processing device configured to:

upon installation, by the mobile computing device, of a first application program on the mobile computing device, incorporate a computer-executable tool into the first application program,

upon incorporation of the computer-executable tool into the first application program, use the computer-executable tool to programmatically initiate a determination that a promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device by:

attempting access, by the mobile computing device via the computer-executable tool, of an application program link corresponding to the promotion application program, without operational changes to processes running on the mobile computing device, to determine the application program link is associated with an unresolved state, and wherein the promotion application program enables access to a promotion and marketing service,

upon determining that the promotion application program is not installed on the mobile computing device, render, to a user of the mobile computing device via a user interface associated with the first application program, (i) a representation of the promotion application program and (ii) an impression of a promotion,

wherein the representation of the promotion application program is configured to cause the first application program to initiate download of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device;

verify installation of the promotion application program; and

upon verification of the installation of the promotion application program, provide, by the computer-executable tool, the promotion.

10. The mobile computing device of claim 9 , wherein the processing device is further configured to:

upon receiving selection of the representation of the promotion application program, initiate downloading of the promotion application program to the mobile computing device.

11. The mobile computing device of claim 9 , wherein the processing device is further configured to:

obtaining, by the computer-executable tool, information about user interactions with the first application program, wherein the storage device is configured to store the obtained information;

in response to installation of the promotion application program, transmit the stored information for use by the promotion application program; and

provide the impression of the promotion by the promotion application program.

12. The computer-executable method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing information from the promotion application program to the first application program on the mobile computing device.

13. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the or more computer-executable instructions, when executed, further cause the mobile computing device to:

provide information from the promotion application program to the first application program on the mobile computing device.

14. The mobile computing device of claim 9 , wherein the processing device is further configured to:

provide information from the promotion application program to the first application program on the mobile computing device.

15. The computer-executable method of claim 1 , wherein the representation of the promotion application program is configured to cause the first application program to initiate download of the promotion application program in response to user input.

16. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 5 , wherein the representation of the promotion application program is configured to cause the first application program to initiate download of the promotion application program in response to user input.
