Abstract

System and method for behavioral and contextual data analytics are disclosed. An example computer system to process observational data received from a wireless device includes a memory including machine readable instructions and a processor to execute the instructions to: process the observational data to identify temporally adjacent applications to generate usage metric data, the observational data including application usage data; build a behavior model based on the identified temporally adjacent applications, the behavior model to describe user behavior associated with the wireless device; and apply the behavior model to predict a usage duration of a second application in response to usage of a first application.

Claims (33)

1. A system to send a targeted advertisement, the system comprising:

memory;

computer readable instructions; and

processor circuitry to execute the computer readable instructions to, at least:

generate a model of usage behavior for a user, the model including one or more historical patterns of a first type of content that the user accessed within a time period of a second type of content;

filter data from one or more data logs received from a first device associated with the user to generate viewer information associated with the user, the viewer information corresponding to first content displayed at the first device, the first content of the first type;

execute the model to determine a probability that the user will access second content with which the targeted advertisement is to be presented after an action associated with the display of the first content at the first device, the second content different from the targeted advertisement, the second content of the second type; and

in response to detecting the action associated with the display of the first content at the first device in the viewer information, cause transmission of the targeted advertisement to a second device based on the probability.

2. The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first device is a television.

3. The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the second device is a wireless telephone.

4. The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to identify the second device, the second device associated with context information including proximate device identifiers.

5. The system as defined in claim 4 , wherein the proximate device identifiers are associated with a common network of the first device and the second device.

6. The system as defined in claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to execute the computer readable instructions to detect that the user has read an advertisement.

7. A computer-readable storage device or storage disk comprising instructions that, when executed, cause processor circuitry to, at least:

generate a model of usage behavior for a user, the model including one or more historical patterns of a first type of content that the user accessed within a time period of a second type of content;

filter data from one or more data logs received from a first device associated with the user to generate viewer information associated with the user, the viewer information corresponding to first content displayed at the first device, the first content of the first type;

execute the model to determine a probability that the user will access second content with which a targeted advertisement is to be presented after an action associated with the display of the first content at the first device, the second content different from the targeted advertisement, the second content of the second type; and

in response to detecting the action associated with the display of the first content at the first device in the viewer information, cause transmission of the targeted advertisement to a second device based on the probability.

8. The computer-readable storage device or storage disk as defined in claim 7 , wherein the first device is a television.

9. The computer-readable storage device or storage disk as defined in claim 7 , wherein the first device is a wireless telephone.

10. The computer-readable storage device or storage disk as defined in claim 7 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry to identify proximate device identifiers corresponding to context information associated with the second device.

11. The computer-readable storage device or storage disk as defined in claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry to identify a common network of the first and second devices based on the proximate device identifiers.

12. The computer-readable storage device or storage disk as defined in claim 7 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor circuitry to detect the user has read an advertisement.

13. A method to send a targeted advertisement comprising, at least:

generating, by executing an instruction with processor circuitry, a model of usage behavior for a user, the model including one or more historical patterns of a first type of content that the user accessed within a time period of a second type of content;

filtering, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, data from one or more data logs received from a first device associated with the user to generate viewer information associated with the user, the viewer information corresponding to first content displayed at the first device, the first content of the first type;

executing, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, the model to determine a probability that the user will access second content with which the targeted advertisement is to be presented after an action associated with the display of the first content at the first device, the second content different from the targeted advertisement, the second content of the second type; and

in response to detecting the action associated with the display of the first content at the first device in the viewer information, causing, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, transmission of the targeted advertisement to a second device based on the probability.

14. The method as defined in claim 13 , wherein the first device is a television.

15. The method as defined in claim 13 , wherein the first device is a wireless telephone.

16. The method as defined in claim 13 , further including identifying proximate device identifiers associated with context information associated with the second device.

17. The method as defined in claim 16 , further including identifying a common network of the first and second devices based on the proximate device identifiers.

18. The method as defined in claim 13 , further including detecting the user has read an advertisement.
