Abstract

The method comprises certifying with integrity and authenticity guarantees, by a second system ( 20 ), a received document (D o ) by applying a watermark to the document (D o ) providing a modified document. Upon the modified document (D w ) is submitted to a transaction, receiving, by a fourth system ( 40 ), an identifier of the document (D w ) and an identifier of an operation executed on the document (D w ) during said transaction; storing, by the fourth system ( 40 ), information about the transaction in a third computer system ( 30 ), the latter executing a computer program storing pairings of said identifier of the document (D w ) and a hash value of the transaction and sending the hash value to the fourth system ( 40 ). The latter storing an address of the computer program, an interface thereof and the identifier of the document (D w ) into a record of a database, usable to track future transactions executed on the document (D w ).

Claims (35)

1 . A method for tracking of certified documents lifecycle, the method comprising:

certifying with integrity and authenticity guarantees, by a second computer system ( 20 ), a document (D o ) received from a first computer system ( 10 ), said certifying including applying a watermark to the document (D o ) providing a modified document;

sending, by the second computer system ( 20 ), the modified document (D w ) to the first computer system ( 10 );

upon the modified document (D w ) being submitted to a transaction, receiving, by a fourth computer system ( 40 ), at least an identifier of the modified document (D w ) and an identifier of an operation executed on the modified document (D w ) during said transaction;

storing, by the fourth computer system ( 40 ), information about the transaction in a third computer system ( 30 ) hold within a distributed ledger, the third computer system ( 30 ) executing a computer program storing pairings composed of said identifier of the modified document (D w ) and a hash value of the transaction in the third computer system ( 30 ); and

receiving, by the fourth computer system ( 40 ), from the third computer system ( 30 ), said hash value; and

storing, by the fourth computer system ( 40 ), an address of the computer program, an interface of the computer program and the identifier of the modified document (D w ) into a record of a database, the record being usable to track future transactions executed on the modified document (D w ).

The method of claim 1 , wherein the operation comprises at least one of: the editing of the document including signing or adding or removing text, metadata addition, a change or removal of the document, the watermark extraction, a biometric signing of the document, a document access and/or sharing the document through a communication channel including email.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the identifier of the operation comprises metadata identifying a user executing the transaction and a timestamp.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the identifier of the operation further comprises an affiliation number of the user and/or a policy setting for the metadata and/or a result of the document access attempt including success, partial access or failure.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer program is specific for the modified document (D w ).

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said certifying step comprises:

computing, by the second computer system ( 20 ), a first cryptographic function (h o ) of the received document (D o );

sending, by the second computer system ( 20 ), the computed first cryptographic function (h o ) to the third computer system ( 30 ), the third computer system ( 30 ) storing the first cryptographic function (h o ) in at least one memory thereof;

receiving, by the second computer system ( 20 ), a first message digest (h ro ) corresponding to an identifier of having stored the first cryptographic function (h o ) in the third computer system ( 30 );

computing, by the second computer system ( 20 ), a key (K) using the received first message digest (h ro ) and metadata of the document (D o ), said computed key (K) being decoded into said watermark;

computing, by the second computer system ( 20 ), a second cryptographic function (h w ) of the modified document (D w ), and sending the computed second cryptographic function (h w ) and the modified document (D w ) to the third computer system ( 30 ) for storage thereof; and

receiving, by the second computer system ( 20 ), a second message digest (h rw ) corresponding to an identifier of having stored the second cryptographic function (h w ) in the third computer system ( 30 ), and storing said second message digest (h rw ) locally in the second computer system ( 20 ).

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the watermark is replicated in different points of the modified document (D w ).

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein said watermark is configured to be indistinguishable to a human eye.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the document (D o ) is a digital document.

10 . A system for tracking of certified documents lifecycle, comprising:

a first computer system ( 10 );

a second computer system ( 20 ) configured to certify with integrity and authenticity guarantees a document (D o ) received from the first computer system ( 10 ) by applying a watermark to the document (D o ) providing a modified document and to further send the modified document (D w ) to the first computer system ( 10 );

a third computer system ( 30 ) hold within a distributed ledger; and

a fourth computer system ( 40 ), having a database, configured to receive, upon the modified document (D w ) being submitted to a transaction, at least an identifier of the modified document (D w ) and an identifier of an operation executed on the modified document (D w ) during said transaction,

wherein the third computer system ( 30 ) is configured to:

store information about the transaction by executing a computer program storing pairings composed of said identifier of the modified document (D w ) and a hash value of the transaction; and

send said hash value to the fourth computer system ( 40 ); and

wherein the fourth computer system ( 40 ) is further configured to store an address of the computer program, an interface of the computer program and the identifier of the modified document (D w ) into a record of the database, the record being usable to track future transactions executed on the modified document (D w ).

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the fourth computer system ( 40 ) further comprises an analysis and visualization module configured to permit the retrieval of data about the modified document (D w ) stored in the third computer system ( 30 ).

12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the identifier of the operation at least comprises metadata identifying a user executing the transaction and a timestamp.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the identifier of the operation further comprises an affiliation number of the user and/or a policy setting for the metadata and/or a result of the document access attempt including success, partial access or failure.

14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the computer program is specific for the modified document (D w ).

15 . A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising code instructions than when executed in at least one processor of a computer system implement the method of claim 1 .
