Abstract

This disclosure describes, according to some implementations, a method for scoring electronic meeting requests for attendee redundancy. In an example method, the method includes retrieving, using one or more processors, user IDs of meeting attendees; retrieving, using the one or more processors, one or more characteristics associated with the user IDs; retrieving, using the one or more processors, a rule having one or more parameters for scoring meeting composition; comparing, using the one or more processors, the one or more characteristics associated with the user IDs based on the one or more parameters of the rule; and generating, using the one or more processors, a meeting score based on the comparison. From the foregoing, it will be appreciated that specific embodiments of the invention have been described herein for purposes of illustration, but that various modifications may be made without deviating from the scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not limited except as by the appended claims.

determining an objective of the meeting based on the meeting topic;

selecting a rule having one or more attendee redundancy thresholds based at least in part on the determined objective;

comparing the plurality of invitees with the selected rule;

based on the comparison, identifying a redundant invitee among the plurality of invitees who exceeds an attendee redundancy threshold of the selected rule;

causing to be presented, in the graphical user interface, a visual redundancy indication identifying the redundant invitee included in the meeting request;

determining, by a sensor, a number of people attending the meeting;

increasing utilization of resources associated with a meeting location by updating the plurality of invitees by removing the redundant invitee from the plurality of invitees;

10 . The one or more instances of non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 4 , the method further comprising causing to be displayed in the visual user interface a control for removing the distinguished person from the plurality of people.

11 . The one or more instances of non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , the method further comprising:

receiving via the visual user interface user input activating the control; and

in response to receiving the user input activating the control, removing the distinguished person from the plurality of people.

12 . The one or more instances of non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 4 , the method further comprising:

receiving via the visual user interface information describing the meeting;

analyzing the received information to infer a purpose of the meeting;

selecting a redundancy rule from a plurality of redundancy rules based at least in part on the inferred purpose of the meeting;

for each person among the plurality of people, determining one or more attribute of the person; and

applying the selected redundancy rule to the determined attributes of the person among the plurality of people to determine that the distinguished person is redundant in the context of the meeting.

13 . A method comprising:

causing to be displayed a visual user interface;

receiving via the visual user interface user input specifying a plurality of people to invite to a meeting;

causing to be displayed in the visual user interface a visual indication of each of the plurality of people, wherein the visual indication displayed for a distinguished one of the plurality of people identifies the distinguished person as redundant; and

determining, by a sensor at a meeting location, a number of people attending the meeting;

removing the distinguished person from the plurality of people to increase utilization of resources associated with the meeting location.

14 . The method of claim 13 wherein the visual indication displayed for the distinguished person indicates a cost estimated for the distinguished person's attendance of the meeting.

15 . The method of claim 13 , the method further comprising causing to be displayed in the visual user interface a prompt to remove the distinguished person from the plurality of people.

16 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising;

receiving via the visual user interface user input specifying removal of the distinguished person from the plurality of people; and

in response to receiving the user input specifying removal of the distinguished person from the plurality of people, removing the distinguished person from the plurality of people.
