INTELLIGENT MODULES FOR INTELLIGENT NETWORKS
A system comprising: a host device comprising at least, an electrical interface configured for connection to a powerline; a first releasable interface; a powerline communication module for transmitting and receiving information over the powerline; an intelligent module comprising at least, a second releasable interface interconnected to the first releasable interface; a digital processor; memory operatively connected to the processor and configured with instructions for causing the processor to receive and transmit information over the powerline through the powerline communication module.
1 . A method of operating a device located in a building and having a memory and a processor, based on data from an event sensor disposed in or about said building, the method comprising:
collecting data from said sensor on events in or around a building;
transmitting said data to a cloud computer with end-to-end encryption;
determining a rule for said device in said cloud computer using machine-learning based at least in part on said data;
transmitting said rule to said device with end-to-end encryption;
storing said rule in an encrypted form in said memory for execution by said processor; and
causing said device to change state based on said rule.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said rule is triggered by time of day or a sensed event.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said rule is based on habits of occupants of said building.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said habits relate to movement of occupants throughout a day.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein said device is configured to vary light based on said rule.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein said light is varied in spectrum based on said rule.
7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein said light is varied in intensity based on said rule.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein said light is turned on and off based on said rule.
9 . The method of claim 4 , wherein said device is configured to vary HVAC based on said rule.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said device is an appliance.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said device comprises an intelligent module.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said device is a computer.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said computer controls at least one appliance.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said device changes state based on said rule in response to sensor data.
15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said sensor data is provided by said sensor.
16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said device is part of an indoor positioning system (IPS).
17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said building is a medical facility.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said device is configured to vary light to suppress bacteria based on said rule.
19 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said rule accommodates a person's circadian cycle.
20 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a sensor recognizes an individual in or about said building and said rule is triggered by the presence of said individual.
