Abstract

Methods, systems, and storage media are described for the transmission of system information in narrowband Internet-of-Things (NB-IoT) systems. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Claims (29)

1. One or more non-transitory, computer-readable media storing instructions, that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a base station to:

generate a system information block type 1-narrowband (SIB1-NB) message; and

encode the SIB1-NB message for transmission to a user equipment (UE) via a narrow band Internet of things (NB-IoT) physical resource block (PRB) of a plurality of anchor channels that include a narrow band primary synchronization signal (NPSS), a narrow band secondary synchronization signal (NSSS), or a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH), wherein the SIB1-NB message is encoded for transmission across at least two beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

2. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message is encoded for repeated transmission with a periodicity of 2560 ms or 5120 ms.

3. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies a first subframe and a second subframe of each anchor channel of the plurality of anchor channels.

4. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies four beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

5. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies eight beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

6. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies four channels for four repetitions.

7. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies eight channels for eight repetitions.

8. The one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies sixteen channels for sixteen repetitions.

9. An apparatus comprising:

memory; and

processing circuitry, coupled with the memory, configured to:

retrieve system information block type 1-narrowband (SIB1-NB) information stored in the memory;

generate a SIB1-NB message that includes the SIB1-NB information; and

encode the SIB1-NB message for transmission to a user equipment (UE) via a narrow band Internet of things (NB-IoT) physical resource block (PRB) of a plurality of anchor channels that include a narrow band primary synchronization signal (NPSS), a narrow band secondary synchronization signal (NSSS), or a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH), wherein the SIB1-NB message is encoded for transmission across at least two beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message is encoded for repeated transmission with a periodicity of 2560 ms or 5120 ms.

11. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies a first subframe and a second subframe of each anchor channel of the plurality of anchor channels.

12. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies four beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

13. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies eight beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

14. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies four channels for four repetitions.

15. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies eight channels for eight repetitions.

16. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies sixteen channels for sixteen repetitions.

17. A method performed by a base station, comprising:

generating a system information block type 1-narrowband (SIB1-NB) message;

encoding the SIB1-NB message for transmission to a user equipment (UE) via a narrow band Internet of things (NB-IoT) physical resource block (PRB) of a plurality of anchor channels that include a narrow band primary synchronization signal (NPSS), a narrow band secondary synchronization signal (NSSS), or a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH), wherein the SIB1-NB message is encoded for transmission across at least two beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the SIB1-NB message is encoded for repeated transmission with a periodicity of 2560 ms or 5120 ms.

19. The method of claim 17 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies a first subframe and a second subframe of each anchor channel of the plurality of anchor channels.

20. The method of claim 17 , wherein the SIB1-NB message occupies four beginning downlink subframes of at least two of the plurality of anchor channels.
