Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to credit commercial broadcasts are disclosed. Example commercial crediting apparatus disclosed herein compare first identification information and first timing information obtained from a first monitored data feed with second identification information and second timing information in a second monitored data feed to identify a first final distributor code represented in the second monitoring data feed, the first identification information and the first timing information corresponding to a first commercial represented in the first monitored data feed. Disclosed example apparatus also access data that maps a first original distributor code to the first final distributor code, identify the first commercial in lineup data based on the first original distributor code, and adjust, based on a duration of the first commercial, a duration obtained for a first media program listed in the lineup data.

Claims (40)

1. A commercial crediting apparatus comprising:

memory including machine readable instructions; and

a processor to execute the instructions to:

compare first identification information and first timing information obtained from a first monitored data feed with second identification information and second timing information in a second monitored data feed to identify a first final distributor code represented in the second monitoring data feed, the first identification information and the first timing information corresponding to a first commercial represented in the first monitored data feed;

access data that maps a first original distributor code to the first final distributor code;

identify the first commercial in lineup data based on the first original distributor code; and

adjust, based on a duration of the first commercial, a duration obtained for a first media program listed in the lineup data.

2. The commercial crediting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein data that maps the final distributor codes to the original distributor codes is included in the second monitoring data feed.

3. The commercial crediting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor is to:

access the first monitored data feed from a first system; and

access the second monitored data feed from a second system different from the first system.

4. The commercial crediting apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the second system is to detect the final distributor codes and the original distributor codes from watermarks in the monitored media distribution feed.

5. The commercial crediting apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the final distributor codes and the original distributor codes are watermarked hierarchically in the monitored media distribution feed.

6. The commercial crediting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the lineup data is first lineup data corresponding to a first original distributor of media, and the processor is to access the first lineup data from a lineup server, the lineup server to store respective lineup data corresponding to respective ones of a plurality of original distributors of media.

7. The commercial crediting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first media program is adjacent to the first commercial in the lineup data.

8. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to at least:

compare first identification information and first timing information obtained from a first monitored data feed with second identification information and second timing information in a second monitored data feed to identify a first final distributor code represented in the second monitoring data feed, the first identification information and the first timing information corresponding to a first commercial represented in the first monitored data feed;

access data that maps a first original distributor code to the first final distributor code;

identify the first commercial in lineup data based on the first original distributor code; and

adjust, based on a duration of the first commercial, a duration obtained for a first media program listed in the lineup data.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein data that maps the final distributor codes to the original distributor codes is included in the second monitoring data feed.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to:

access the first monitored data feed from a first system; and

access the second monitored data feed from a second system different from the first system.

11. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the second system is to detect the final distributor codes and the original distributor codes from watermarks in the monitored media distribution feed.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the final distributor codes and the original distributor codes are watermarked hierarchically in the monitored media distribution feed.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the lineup data is first lineup data corresponding to a first original distributor of media, and the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to access the first lineup data from a lineup server, the lineup server to store respective lineup data corresponding to respective ones of a plurality of original distributors of media.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the first media program is adjacent to the first commercial in the lineup data.

15. A commercial crediting method comprising:

comparing, by executing an instruction with a processor, first identification information and first timing information obtained from a first monitored data feed with second identification information and second timing information in a second monitored data feed to identify a first final distributor code represented in the second monitoring data feed, the first identification information and the first timing information corresponding to a first commercial represented in the first monitored data feed;

accessing, by executing an instruction with the processor, data that maps a first original distributor code to the first final distributor code;

identifying, by executing an instruction with the processor, the first commercial in lineup data based on the first original distributor code; and

adjusting, by executing an instruction with the processor and based on a duration of the first commercial, a duration obtained for a first media program listed in the lineup data.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein data that maps the final distributor codes to the original distributor codes is included in the second monitoring data feed.

17. The method of claim 15 , further including:

accessing the first monitored data feed from a first system; and

accessing the second monitored data feed from a second system different from the first system.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the final distributor codes and the original distributor codes are watermarked hierarchically in the monitored media distribution feed, and the second system is to detect the final distributor codes and the original distributor codes from watermarks in the monitored media distribution feed.

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the lineup data is first lineup data corresponding to a first original distributor of media, and further including accessing the first lineup data from a lineup server, the lineup server to store respective lineup data corresponding to respective ones of a plurality of original distributors of media.

20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first media program is adjacent to the first commercial in the lineup data.
