DENTAL IMPRESSION KIT AND METHODS THEREFOR
A method includes sending a dental impression kit to a user, the dental impression kit including a dental tray, a base putty, and a catalyst putty, where the base putty and the catalyst putty are mixable to form a putty mixture for creating dental impressions. The method further includes receiving an image provided by the user of an initial dental impression created by the user in the putty mixture, and communicating with the user based on the image of the initial dental impression. The method further includes receiving a redundant dental impression created by the user after the communication with the user, and manufacturing, based on the redundant dental impression, a plurality of dental aligners specific to the user and being configured to reposition one or more teeth of the user.
1 . A method comprising:
sending a dental impression kit to a user, the dental impression kit including a plurality of dental trays, a base putty, and a catalyst putty, the base putty and the catalyst putty being mixable to form a putty mixture that can be positioned in the dental trays for creating dental impressions;
receiving an image provided by the user, the image being of an initial dental impression created by the user in the putty mixture positioned in a first dental tray of the plurality of dental trays;
communicating with the user, the communication based on the image of the initial dental impression;
receiving a redundant dental impression created by the user after the communication with the user; and
manufacturing, based on the redundant dental impression, a plurality of dental aligners specific to the user and being configured to reposition one or more teeth of the user.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication is made to the user after the user has created the initial dental impression and prior to the user creating the redundant dental impression.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication instructs the user to create the redundant dental impression by maintaining a second dental tray with putty mixture in the user's mouth for a longer duration than the first dental tray with putty mixture.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication instructs the user to create the redundant dental impression by biting down into the putty mixture in a second dental tray deeper than in the putty mixture of the first dental tray.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication instructs the user to create the redundant dental impression by maintaining a position of a second dental tray relative to a dentition of the user.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the image provided by the user is a first image, the method further comprising receiving a second image provided by the user that includes a dentition of the user.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the image provided by the user is a first image that includes an upper dental impression of an upper dental arch of the user, the method further comprising receiving a second image provided by the user, the second image including a lower dental impression of a lower dental arch of the user.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication is at least one of a text message, an email, and a telephone call.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication with the user is made in real-time with respect to receiving the image.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the initial dental impression, wherein the plurality of dental aligners are manufactured based on the initial dental impression and the redundant dental impression.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication is provided to the user based on an evaluation by a dental professional of the image.
12 . A method of administering a dental impression kit, the method comprising:
receiving the dental impression kit, the dental impression kit comprising a plurality of dental trays, a base putty, and a catalyst putty, the base putty and the catalyst putty being mixable to form a putty mixture that can be positioned in the dental trays for creating dental impressions;
creating an initial dental impression using a first dental tray of the plurality of dental trays;
capturing an image of the initial dental impression;
providing the image of the initial dental impression to an entity associated with manufacturing dental aligners;
receiving a communication based on the image of the initial dental impression; and
creating a redundant dental impression using a second dental tray of the plurality of dental trays after receiving the communication.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the communication is received after creating the initial dental impression and prior to creating the redundant dental impression.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the communication includes instructions for creating the redundant dental impression.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the communication instructs the user to maintain the second dental tray with the putty mixture in the user's mouth for a longer duration than the first dental tray with putty mixture.
16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the communication instructs the user to create the redundant dental impression by biting down into the putty mixture in the second dental tray deeper than in the putty mixture of the first dental tray.
17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the communication instructs the user to create the redundant dental impression by maintaining a position of the second dental tray relative to a dentition of the user.
