Abstract

This document discusses, among other things, an apparatus comprising a pump configured to deliver insulin, a processor, and a user interface including a bistable display. A display element of the bistable display is placed in one of two stable orientations upon application of a biasing voltage and stays in the stable orientation when the biasing voltage is removed. The processor includes a display module configured to display a non-blank reversion display screen on the bistable display when no input is received at the user interface after a specified time duration, and to recurrently change the reversion display screen until input is received at the user interface.

Claims (15)

1. A medical infusion pump system having a user interface configured to assist a user in operation of a medical infusion pump by automatically customizing display menus according to a user's clinical status, thereby improving operability of the pump for users suffering from a medical condition, the medical infusion pump system comprising:

a pump configured to deliver medicament to the user; and

a user interface including a processor and a display, the user interface configured to present a plurality of display menus, each display menu having at least one menu item presented on the display, wherein a selection of a menu item by the user causes the processor to perform an action associated with the selected menu item and wherein the processor is configured to:

receive clinical status information of the user;

and

arrange at least one of the plurality of display menus and/or the menu items into a presentation order according to which actions are more appropriate for the user's current clinical status; wherein if the user's clinical status information indicates that the user's current clinical status is a high glucose level or low glucose level, at least one of the plurality of display menus and/or the menu items are arranged to make actions more appropriate for the high glucose level or low glucose level more convenient for the user to access.

2. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user's clinical status information is entered into the medical infusion pump system via the user interface.

3. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user's clinical status information is downloaded into the medical infusion pump system via a communication port.

4. The medical infusion pump system of claim 3 , wherein the communication port is a wireless communication port.

5. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein if the received user clinical status information indicates that the user has delayed gastric emptying, the processor automatically places an extended or combination therapy delivery display menu in front of a standard therapy delivery display menu.

6. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user's clinical status information includes a glucose level.

7. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is part of the medical infusion pump.

8. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is part of a device remote from the medical infusion pump.

9. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user's clinical status information includes a programmed meal time of the user.

10. The medical infusion pump system of claim 1 , wherein the user's clinical status information includes exercise information of the user.
