Abstract

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for communicating between devices using short-range communication links. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods for communicating access-right data between devices for verification or transfer.

Claims (61)

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

identifying a geographical location of a mobile computing device, the mobile computing device being configured to run a native application that facilitates entry to a spatial area using an access right assigned to the mobile computing device;

determining that the geographical location of the mobile computing device is within a defined area;

in response to determining that the geographical location of the mobile computing device is within the defined area, causing the native application running on the mobile computing device to display a transforming image on the mobile computing device, the transforming image being repeatedly transformed at an interval, and wherein the transforming image corresponds to a visual representation of the access right assigned to the mobile computing device at least at one time during the interval in which the transforming image is transformed;

detecting the visual representation of the access right from the transforming image displayed on the mobile computing device, the detection of the visual representation including:

identifying one or more positions within the transforming image;

converting each identified position of the one or more identified positions into a value based on a pixel present at the position; and

determining an access code based on the value corresponding to each identified position of the one or more positions; and

in response to detecting the visual representation, enabling the mobile computing device to gain access to the spatial area after determining that the access code corresponds to a valid access right.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein detecting further comprises:

continuously capturing the transforming image as the transforming image is transformed during the interval; and

detecting, at the one time, that the transforming image corresponds to the visual representation of the access right.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein repeatedly transforming the transforming image includes repeating a transformation of an initial image included in the transforming image during the interval.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein at the one time during the interval, the transforming image visually depicts a scannable code that represents the access right assigned to the mobile computing device.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein detecting the visual representation of the access right further includes:

determining one or more pixel positions displayed in the transforming image;

converting the one or more pixel positions into one or more values, wherein the converting is based on an algorithm; and

determining whether the one or more values corresponds to the access right.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the transformation of the transforming image from an initial image to an ending image during the interval is periodically repeated.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the transforming image is displayed on the mobile computing device when the mobile computing device is located within the defined area, and wherein the defined area is associated with the spatial area.

8. A system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing instructions which, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including:

identifying a geographical location of a mobile computing device, the mobile computing device being configured to run a native application that facilitates entry to a spatial area using an access right assigned to the mobile computing device;

determining that the geographical location of the mobile computing device is within a defined area;

in response to determining that the geographical location of the mobile computing device is within the defined area, causing the native application running on the mobile computing device to display a transforming image on the mobile computing device, the transforming image being repeatedly transformed at an interval, and wherein the transforming image corresponds to a visual representation of the access right assigned to the mobile computing device at least at one time during the interval in which the transforming image is transformed;

detecting the visual representation of the access right from the transforming image displayed on the mobile computing device, the detection of the visual representation including:

identifying one or more positions within the transforming image;

converting each identified position of the one or more identified positions into a value based on a pixel present at the position; and

determining an access code based on the value corresponding to each identified position of the one or more positions; and

in response to detecting the visual representation, enabling the mobile computing device to gain access to the spatial area after determining that the access code corresponds to a valid access right.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein detecting further comprises:

continuously capturing the transforming image as the transforming image is transformed during the interval; and

detecting, at the one time, that the transforming image corresponds to the visual representation of the access right.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein repeatedly transforming the transforming image includes repeating a transformation of an initial image included in the transforming image during the interval.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein at the one time during the interval, the transforming image visually depicts a scannable code that represents the access right assigned to the mobile computing device.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein detecting the visual representation of the access right further includes:

determining one or more pixel positions displayed in the transforming image;

converting the one or more pixel positions into one or more values, wherein the converting is based on an algorithm; and

determining whether the one or more values corresponds to the access right.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the transformation of the transforming image from an initial image to an ending image during the interval is periodically repeated.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the transforming image is displayed on the mobile computing device when the mobile computing device is located within the defined area, and wherein the defined area is associated with the spatial area.

15. A computer-program product tangibly embodied in a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, including instructions configured to cause a data processing apparatus to perform operations including:

identifying a geographical location of a mobile computing device, the mobile computing device being configured to run a native application that facilitates entry to a spatial area using an access right assigned to the mobile computing device;

determining that the geographical location of the mobile computing device is within a defined area;

in response to determining that the geographical location of the mobile computing device is within the defined area, causing the native application running on the mobile computing device to display a transforming image on the mobile computing device, the transforming image being repeatedly transformed at an interval, and wherein the transforming image corresponds to a visual representation of the access right assigned to the mobile computing device at least at one time during the interval in which the transforming image is transformed;

detecting the visual representation of the access right from the transforming image displayed on the mobile computing device, the detection of the visual representation including:

identifying one or more positions within the transforming image;

converting each identified position of the one or more identified positions into a value based on a pixel present at the position; and

determining an access code based on the value corresponding to each identified position of the one or more positions; and

in response to detecting the visual representation, enabling the mobile computing device to gain access to the spatial area after determining that the access code corresponds to a valid access right.

16. The computer-program product of claim 15 , wherein detecting further comprises:
