A method of reducing risk of stroke or myocardial infarction in a subject in need thereof comprising, administering daily to the subject a composition comprising about 4 g of E-EPA, wherein E-EPA comprises at least about 96%, by weight of all fatty acids in the composition, and the composition comprises: not more than about 0.5%, by weight of all fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) or a derivative thereof, and not more than about 0.5%, by weight of all fatty acids, ethyl arachidonate.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the composition is contained in a dosage unit comprising 0.5 g or 1 g of the E-EPA.
23 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the dosage unit is a capsule.
24 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the dosage unit comprises 0.5 g of the E-EPA.
25 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the dosage unit comprises 1 g of the E-EPA.
26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the composition comprises not more than about 0.3%, by weight of all fatty acids, ethyl arachidonate.
27 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the composition comprises 0%, by weight of all fatty acids, ethyl arachidonate.
28 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the composition comprises not more than about 0.3%, by weight of all fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) or a derivative thereof.
29 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the composition comprises not more than about 0.06%, by weight of all fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) or a derivative thereof.
