Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an arrangement, a loop-shaped support, a prosthetic heart valve and a method of repairing or replacing a native heart valve. With the method or the arrangement, leakage or regurgitation between a prosthetic heart valve and the surrounding valve tissue is prevented. In one embodiment, an arrangement for replacement or repair of a native heart valve is provided, which comprises a loop-shaped support 41 and a prosthetic heart valve 70 and wherein an outer segment 32 of the loop-shaped support 41 is positionable towards surrounding valve tissue of a native heart valve and wherein an outer surface 74 of the prosthetic heart valve 70 is positionable towards an inner segment 34 of the loop-shaped support 41 so as to prevent paravalvular leakage or regurgitation between the prosthetic heart valve 70 and the surrounding valve tissue of the native heart valve.

Claims (20)

1. A method of repairing or replacing a native mitral valve, said method comprising:

delivering a loop-shaped support to a target site at the native mitral valve wherein, after delivery to the target site, the loop-shaped support has a helical shape comprising a first loop and a second loop each positioned in substantially different diametric planes, with the first loop positioned on an atrial side of the native mitral valve and the second loop positioned on a ventricular side of the native mitral valve;

advancing a radially expandable prosthetic heart valve through said loop-shaped support, said first loop and said second loop having a circumference which is larger than a circumference of the prosthetic heart valve during said advancing; and

expanding the prosthetic heart valve to tightly position an outer surface of the prosthetic heart valve towards an inner segment of the loop-shaped support so as to seal the area between the prosthetic heart valve and the loop-shaped support;

wherein an outer segment of the loop-shaped support is rounded and the inner segment of the loop-shaped support is flattened for fitting to the prosthetic heart valve.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein an extension of the loop-shaped support points in a direction away from the native mitral valve when the loop-shaped support is placed at the target site, and wherein the direction away from the native mitral valve is substantially parallel with a center axis of the loop-shaped support.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the second loop is displaced radially with respect to the first loop.

4. An arrangement for replacement or repair of a native mitral valve, said arrangement comprising:

a loop-shaped support that, after delivery to a target site at the native mitral valve, has a helical shape comprising a first loop to be positioned on an atrial side of the native mitral valve and a second loop to be positioned on a ventricular side of the native mitral valve, and

a radially expandable prosthetic heart valve that, after delivery to the target site, is positioned through loop-shaped support,

wherein the prosthetic heart valve is radially expandable to tightly position an outer surface of the prosthetic heart valve towards an inner segment of the loop-shaped support so as to seal the area between the prosthetic heart valve and the loop-shaped support,

and

wherein an outer segment of the loop-shaped support is rounded and the inner segment of the loop-shaped support is flattened for fitting to the prosthetic heart valve.

5. The arrangement of claim 4 , wherein the loop-shaped support is screwable into the native mitral valve.

6. The arrangement of claim 4 , wherein the loop-shaped support and/or the prosthetic heart valve is implantable via a catheter.

7. The arrangement of claim 4 , wherein the loop-shaped support comprises three-dimensional curves.

8. The arrangement of claim 4 , wherein the second loop is displaced radially with respect to the first loop.

9. The arrangement of claim 4 , wherein the loop-shaped support comprises an extension pointing in a direction towards the atrium and/or the ventricle, in use, when the loop-shaped support has been placed at the native mitral valve.

10. The arrangement of claim 4 , wherein the prosthetic heart valve comprises integrated anchor elements.

11. The arrangement of claim 4 , comprising a fabric flange unit connected to the loop-shaped support.
