Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for monitoring a patient by positioning the patient for a predetermined medical mission; sensing biometric and physical conditions of a patient during the mission, and displaying a multimedia interaction with the patient to keep the patient in a predetermined position to improve efficacy of a medical mission.

Claims (55)

1 . A virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission comprising:

a motion detection system to capture a real-time physical position data corresponding to a real-time physical position of a patient;

a console system to establish a physical position data range;

a medical mission system to perform a medical mission when the real-time physical position data is within the physical position data range;

a communications system that provides sensory feedback of the real-time physical position to the patient, the communications system displaying to the patient an avatar in a virtual environment representative of the real-time physical position of the patient; and

wherein, by referencing the movements of the avatar in the virtual environment displayed in the communication system, the patient adjust the real-time physical position to manipulate the real-time physical position data to be within the physical position data range to perform the medical mission.

2 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 1 , further comprising:

a technician controller system to allow a technician to interact with the virtual reality medical application system.

3 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 2 , further comprising:

a patient controller system to allow the patient to interact with the virtual reality medical application system.

4 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 1 , further comprising:

a biofeedback system to capture a real-time biometric data corresponding a real-time biometric measurements of the patient;

wherein the console system establishes a biometric data range, the console system further configured to alert the patient through the communication system when the real-time biometric data is not within the biometric data range; and

wherein the patient may adjust the real-time biometric measurements to manipulate the real-time biometric data to be within the biometric data range.

5 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 4 , wherein the medical mission system is further configured to perform the medical mission when the real-time biometric data is within the biometric data range.

6 . A virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission comprising:

a motion detection system to capture a real-time physical position data corresponding to a real-time physical position of a patient;

a console system to establish a physical position data range;

a medical mission system to perform a medical mission when the real-time physical position data is within the physical position data range;

a head mounted display system that provides sensory feedback of the real-time physical position data to the patient, the head mounted display system displaying an avatar in a virtual environment representative of the real-time physical position data of the patient; and

wherein the patient adjust the real-time physical position, by referencing the movements of the avatar in the virtual environment, to manipulate the real-time physical position data to be within the physical position data range to perform the medical mission.

7 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 6 , wherein the motion detection system comprises:

a plurality of motion detectors positioned at reference locations away from the patient.

8 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 7 , wherein the motion detector system further comprises:

a plurality of position locator tags positioned on the patient at marker positions, wherein the plurality of motion detectors detect the plurality of position locator tags to capture real-time physical position data corresponding to the real-time physical position of the patient.

9 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 7 , wherein the motion detector system further comprises:

a plurality of motions sensors positioned on the patient.

10 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 9 , further comprising:

a patient controller system to allow the patient to interact with the virtual reality medical application system.

11 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 10 , further comprising:

a biofeedback system to capture a real-time biometric data corresponding to a real-time biometric measurements of the patient;

wherein the console system establishes a biometric data range, the console system configured to alert the patient through the head mounted display system when the real-time biometric data is not within the biometric data range; and

wherein the patient may adjust the real-time biometric measurements to manipulate the real-time biometric data to be within the biometric data range.

12 . A virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission comprising:

a medical mission system having a reference plane to perform a medical mission;

a motion detector system with a field of view of the reference plane to capture a real-time physical position data corresponding to a real-time physical position of a patient located on the reference plane;

a head mounted display system to provide sensory feedback of the real-time physical position data to the patient, the head mounted display system displaying an avatar in a virtual environment representative of the real-time physical position data of the patient;

a console system in communication with the medical mission system, the motion detector system, and the head mounted display system, the console system configured to establish a physical position data range;

wherein the medical mission system performs a medical mission when the real-time physical position data is within the physical position data range; and

wherein, by referencing the movements of the avatar in the virtual environment, the patient adjust the real-time physical position to manipulate the real-time physical position data to be within the physical position data range to perform the medical mission.

13 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 12 , further comprising:

a biofeedback system positioned on the patient to capture a real-time biometric data corresponding to a real-time biometric measurements of the patient.

14 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 13 , wherein the motion detection system comprises:

a plurality of motion detectors; and

a plurality of position locator tags positioned on the patient at marker positions, wherein the plurality of motion detectors detect the position locator tags to capture the real-time physical position data corresponding to the real-time physical position of the patient.

15 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 13 , further comprising:

a secondary motion detection system comprising a plurality of motion sensors positioned on the patient.

16 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 13 , further comprising:

a patient controller system to allow the patient to interact with the virtual reality medical application system.

17 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 16 , further comprising:

a technician controller system to allow a technician to interact with the virtual reality medical application system.

The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 13 , wherein the medical mission system performs the medical mission when the real-time biometric data is within a biometric data range established by the console system; and

wherein the patient may adjust the real-time biometric measurements to manipulate the real-time biometric data to be within the biometric data range.

The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 18 , wherein the head mounted display system visually alerts the patient when the real-time physical position data is outside the physical position data range and when the real-time biometric data is outside the biometric data range.

20 . The virtual reality medical application system for maintaining a physical positioning of a patient during a medical mission of claim 19 , wherein the head mounted display system audibly alerts the patient when the real-time physical position data is outside the physical position data range and when the real-time biometric data is outside the biometric data range.
