Abstract

A system receives map data for a plurality of different locations and renders, using the received map data, multiple maps arranged in a stack, with each of the maps including a selectable portion. The system receives an indication of an updated current location of the user device. The system then displays, via a user interface, the multiple maps arranged in the stack, and updates each of the maps in view of the updated current location of the user device.

Claims (39)

1 . A method in a user device for providing digital maps via a user interface, the method comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors, map data for a plurality of different locations;

rendering, using the received map data, a plurality of maps arranged in a stack, with each of the plurality of maps including a selectable portion;

receiving, by the one or more processors, an indication of an updated current location of the user device; and

displaying, via a user interface, the plurality of maps arranged in the stack, including updating each of the plurality of maps in view of the updated current location of the user device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the one or more processors, selections of the plurality of different locations by a user operating the user device.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein updating each of the plurality of dynamic maps includes updating a route path between the current location of the user device and a respective one of the plurality of different locations to which the dynamic map corresponds.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein updating each of the plurality of dynamic maps includes updating an estimated distance between the current location of the user device and a respective one of the plurality of different locations to which the dynamic map corresponds.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein updating each of the plurality of dynamic maps includes updating an estimated travel time between the current location of the user device and a respective one of the plurality of different locations to which the dynamic map corresponds.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

responsive to the user favoring a new location that has not been described by the plurality of maps, adding a new map describing the new location to the plurality of dynamic maps.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

responsive to the user un-favoring a location that has been described by the plurality of dynamic maps, removing the map describing the location from the plurality of maps.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the plurality of maps includes:

displaying an interactive map layered over a plurality of dynamic maps, including displaying the plurality of dynamic maps as collapsed at an edge of a screen of the user interface.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the interactive map is immediately visible within the user interface, and the plurality of dynamic maps are not immediately visible.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of different locations include a home location of a user operating the user device.

11 . A system comprising:

a processors;

a user interface;

a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions thereon that, when executed by the processors, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving map data for a plurality of different locations,

rendering, using the received map data, a plurality of maps arranged in a stack, with each of the plurality of maps including a selectable portion,

receiving an indication of an updated current location of the user device, and

displaying, via the user interface, the plurality of maps arranged in the stack, including updating each of the plurality of maps in view of the updated current location of the user device.

12 . The system of claim 11 , the operations further comprising:

receiving, by the one or more processors, selections of the plurality of different locations by a user operating the user device.

13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein updating each of the plurality of dynamic maps includes updating a route path between the current location of the user device and a respective one of the plurality of different locations to which the dynamic map corresponds.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein updating each of the plurality of dynamic maps includes updating an estimated distance between the current location of the user device and a respective one of the plurality of different locations to which the dynamic map corresponds.

15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein updating each of the plurality of dynamic maps includes updating an estimated travel time between the current location of the user device and a respective one of the plurality of different locations to which the dynamic map corresponds.

16 . The system of claim 11 , the operations further comprising:

responsive to the user favoring a new location that has not been described by the plurality of maps, adding a new map describing the new location to the plurality of dynamic maps.

17 . The system of claim 11 , the operations further comprising:

responsive to the user un-favoring a location that has been described by the plurality of dynamic maps, removing the map describing the location from the plurality of maps.

18 . The system of claim 11 , wherein displaying the plurality of maps includes:

displaying an interactive map layered over a plurality of dynamic maps, including displaying the plurality of dynamic maps as collapsed at an edge of a screen of the user interface.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the interactive map is immediately visible within the user interface, and the plurality of dynamic maps are not immediately visible.

10 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of different locations include a home location of a user operating the user device.
