Abstract

A flexible sensor label including a reservoir chamber configured to store an activation medium. The flexible sensor label includes an irreversible chamber configured to store a first indicator medium. The first indicator medium is altered in response to the activation medium being released and the flexible sensor label being exposed to a first condition associated with the first indicator medium. The flexible sensor label includes a reversible chamber configured to store a second indicator medium. The second indicator medium is altered in response to the activation medium being released and the flexible sensor label being exposed to a second condition associated with the second indicator medium.

Claims (21)

1. A flexible sensor label, comprising:

a reservoir chamber configured to store an activation medium;

a first chamber configured to store an irreversible thermochromic polymer, wherein the irreversible thermochromic polymer is altered and irreversibly changes color in response to the activation medium being released and coming into contact with the irreversible thermochromic polymer and the flexible sensor label being exposed to a first temperature condition associated with the first chamber; and

a second chamber configured to store a reversible thermochromic polymer, wherein the reversible thermochromic polymer is altered and reversibly changes color in response to the activation medium being released and coming into contact with the reversible thermochromic polymer and the flexible sensor label being exposed to a temperature associated with the second chamber.

2. The flexible sensor label of claim 1 wherein, in response to the flexible sensor label no longer being exposed to the second temperature associated with the second chamber, the reversible thermochromic polymer is altered to change color back to an original color of the reversible thermochromic polymer.

3. The flexible sensor label of claim 1 wherein the first temperature condition is the flexible sensor label being exposed to a temperature falling below a minimum temperature threshold associated with the first chamber.

4. The flexible sensor label of claim 1 wherein the first condition is the flexible sensor label being exposed to a temperature exceeding a maximum temperature threshold associated with the first chamber.

5. A flexible sensor graph, comprising:

a reservoir chamber configured to store a first reagent and a second reagent;

a grid having a set of rows and a set of columns perpendicular to the set of rows, wherein the grid is configured to store a respective base reactant at each intersection of each row of the set of rows and each column of the set of columns, and wherein:

each row of the set of rows corresponds to a respective predetermined temperature value;

the respective base reactant stored within each row of the set of rows corresponds to the respective predetermined temperature value of the respective row of each intersection;

each column of the set of columns corresponds to a respective predetermined time;

each row of the set of row includes a plurality of fibers oriented in a direction along the row with an end of each of the plurality of fibers being connected to the reservoir chamber; and

each column of the set of columns is located at a distance from the reservoir chamber such that a time required for the first reagent to wick from the reservoir chamber to the respective column corresponds to the respective predetermined time of the respective column; and

a separator between the reservoir chamber and the grid, wherein, in response to the separator being broken, the first reagent wicks across each row of the set of rows and activates the respective base reactant stored at each intersection and, for each intersection, changes a color of the respective base reactant when the respective predetermined temperature value corresponding to the respective row of the intersection has been exceeded at the respective predetermined time corresponding to the respective column of the intersection;

wherein the first reagent is arranged in the reservoir closer to the grid than the second reagent such that the first reagent reaches each intersection before the second reagent and the second reagent deactivates any color change at each intersection after the respective predetermined time corresponding to the respective column of the intersection.

6. The flexible sensor graph of claim 5 wherein the respective predetermined time of each column is printed on a first axis of the set of columns, and wherein the respective predetermined time of each column corresponds to an amount of time before the respective base reactant changes color in response to exposure to the reagent.

7. The flexible sensor graph of claim 5 wherein the respective predetermined temperature value of each row is printed on a second axis of the set of rows, and wherein the respective predetermined temperature value of each column corresponds to a temperature threshold at which the respective base reactant changes color in response to exposure to the reagent.

8. The flexible sensor graph of claim 5 wherein the reservoir chamber stores a third reagent that prevents color changes until a predetermined amount of time has elapsed.

9. The flexible sensor graph of claim 5 further comprising a marking agent membrane that, in response to being broken, indicates an environment at a time corresponding to when the marking agent membrane was broken.
