Abstract

A detection device is in communication with a user monitoring device. The detection device includes at least one motion/movement gesture sensing device configured to detect at least one of a person's motion, movement and gesture. A user monitoring device includes at least one element selected from: a proximity sensor; a temperature sensor; a humidity sensor; a particulate sensor; a light sensor; a microphone; one or more RF transmitters (BLE/ANT+WIFI); a memory; and one or more LED's. The detection device and user monitoring device detect or monitor one or more infant characteristics.

Claims (44)

1 . A sleep tracking device, comprising:

a body portion having an internal cavity, the body portion including a first face positioned opposite a second face;

a plurality of sensors arranged at least partially within the internal cavity, the plurality of sensors comprising at least two of a proximity sensor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a motion sensor, a light sensor, or a sound sensor; and

a communication system arranged at least partially within the internal cavity, the communication system sending data captured by the one or more sensors to a remote device.

2 . The sleep tracking device of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of sensors is a motion sensor, the motion sensor configured to detect movement of a user proximate the sleep tracking device.

3 . The sleep tracking device of claim 2 , wherein the movement is detectable if an amount of the movement is at or above a threshold level.

4 . The sleep tracking device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a power supply at least partially within the internal cavity, the power supply supplying energy to the plurality of sensors.

5 . The sleep tracking device of claim 1 , wherein the first face is configured to be positioned at least partially in contact with a user during operation of the sleep tracking device.

6 . The sleep tracking device of claim 5 , wherein the second face is configured to be positioned between the user and a surface supporting the user.

7 . The sleep tracking device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a processor; and

a memory, the processor receiving an input from the plurality of sensors, the input corresponding to a property of sleep associated with a user, wherein the property of sleep can be recorded over a period of time.

8 . A system for recording and tracking sleep behavior, comprising:

a motion sensor, the motion sensor arranged at a user support surface to receive data indicative of movement of a user, the movement being an amount of the movement at or above a movement threshold level;

an audio sensor, the audio sensor arranged proximate the user support surface to receive second data indicative of a sound from the user, the sound being an amount of sound at or above a sound threshold level;

a temperature sensor, the temperature sensor arranged proximate the user support surface to receive third data indicative of a temperature of a location containing the user support surface; and

a computing device, the computing device receiving information from each of the motion sensor, the audio sensor, and the temperature sensor, the computing device determining a sleep property, of the user, based at least in part on the information.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein at least two of the motion sensor, the audio sensor, and the temperature sensor are positioned at least partially within a common housing.

10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the sleep property includes at least one of sleep activities, a sleep state, or an awake status.

11 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising:

a humidity sensor, the humidity sensor arranged proximate the user support surface to receive fourth data indicative of a humidity of the location containing the user support surface, the fourth data being transmitted to the computing device.

12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the information, at least in part, is utilized to determine a presence of sleep apnea with a user.

13 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising:

a timer, associated with the computing device, the time determining a sleep start time and a sleep end time, based at least in part on the information.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the sleep start time and the sleep end time are used, at least in part, to determine a sleep duration.

15 . The system of claim 8 , wherein at least one of the motion sensor, the audio sensor, and the temperature sensor is positioned on at least one of a pillow, a bed cover, a bed sheet, a mattress, or a box spring.

16 . A method for tracking sleep parameters, comprising:

receiving first data, from a first sensor, the first data indicative of movement of an object proximate the first sensor;

determining the movement is above a movement threshold;

receiving second data, from a second sensor, the second data indicative of a sound of the object proximate the second sensor;

determining the sound is above an auditory threshold; and

determining a sleep parameter, based at least in part on the movement and the sound, the sleep parameter associated with at least one of a sleep activity, a sleep status, or an awake status.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

recording the sleep parameter with an associated timestamp.

18 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

recording a plurality of sleep parameters, each sleep parameter having a different associated timestamp; and

determining a physical condition of a user having the plurality of sleep parameters.

19 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

positioning the first sensor proximate a sleeping surface; and

positioning the second sensor proximate a sleeping surface.

20 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

receiving third data, from a third sensor, the first data indicative of a physical property of a location including the third sensor;

determining the sleep parameter, based at least in part on the movement, the sound, and the physical property.
