Abstract

According to one embodiment, a wireless communication device includes: controlling circuitry configured to change a value of a first parameter in accordance with a history of uplink multi-user transmission or whether capability of uplink multi-user transmission is in an enabled or disabled state, the first parameter defining an upper limit of duration during which a wireless medium is allowed to be occupied; and a transmitter configured to transmit a first frame.

Claims (43)

1. A wireless communication device, comprising:

a receiver configured to receive a first frame instructing the wireless communication device to perform uplink multi-user transmission; and

a transmitter is configured to transmit a second frame in the uplink multi-user in response to the first frame; and

controlling circuitry configured to set a timer upon receiving the first frame, and change a value of a first parameter of accessing a wireless medium when the timer times out,

wherein the receiver is configured to receive a third frame including information that indicates a value for setting the timer,

wherein the controlling circuit is configured to set the timer based on the information included in the third frame, and

wherein the first parameter is a parameter used for determination of a duration of carrier sensing on the wireless medium.

2. The wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein the first parameter is a parameter indicating at least one of a minimum value or maximum value of a contention window.

3. The wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein the third frame is a management frame.

4. The wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein the management frame is a beacon frame.

5. The wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein capability of the uplink multi-user transmission can be set to any one of an enabled state or disabled state in the wireless communication device, and

the controlling circuitry does not perform to set the timer and to change the value of the first parameter if the capability is set to the disabled state, and uses a predetermined value as the value of the first parameter.

6. The wireless communication device according to claim 5 , wherein the controlling circuitry is configured to set the timer upon receiving the first frame and to change the value of the first parameter from a first value to a second value when the timer times out if the capability is set to the enabled state, and

the predetermined value is the second value.

7. A wireless communication device, comprising:

a receiver configured to receive a first frame instructing the wireless communication device to perform uplink multi-user transmission; and

a transmitter is configured to transmit a second frame in the uplink multi-user in response to the first frame; and

controlling circuitry configured to set a timer upon receiving the first frame, and change a value of a first parameter of accessing a wireless medium from a first value to a second value when the timer times out,

wherein the receiver is configured to receive a third frame including information that indicates at least one of the first value and the second value,

wherein the controlling circuit is configured to determine, based on the information included in the third frame, at least one of: the first value and the second value of the first parameter, and

wherein the first parameter is a parameter used for determination of a duration of carrier sensing on the wireless medium.

8. The wireless communication device according to claim 7 , wherein the first parameter is a parameter indicating at least one of a minimum value or maximum value of a contention window.

9. The wireless communication device according to claim 7 , wherein the third frame is a management frame.

10. The wireless communication device according to claim 7 , wherein the management frame is a beacon frame.

11. The wireless communication device according to claim 7 , wherein capability of the uplink multi-user transmission can be set to any one of an enabled state or disabled state in the wireless communication device, and

the controlling circuitry does not perform to set the timer and to change the value of the first parameter if the capability is set to the disabled state, and uses a predetermined value as the value of the first parameter.

12. The wireless communication device according to claim 11 , wherein the predetermined value is the second value.

13. A wireless communication method performed in a wireless communication device, comprising:

receiving a first frame instructing the wireless communication device to perform uplink multi-user transmission;

transmitting a second frame in the uplink multi-user in response to the first frame; and

setting a timer upon receiving the first frame, and changing a value of a first parameter of accessing a wireless medium when the timer times out;

wherein the method further comprises:

receiving a third frame including information that indicates a value for setting the timer; and

setting the timer based on the information included in the third frame, and

wherein the first parameter is a parameter used for determination of a duration of carrier sensing on the wireless medium.

14. A wireless communication method performed in a wireless communication device, comprising:

receiving a first frame instructing the wireless communication device to perform uplink multi-user transmission; and

transmitting a second frame in the uplink multi-user in response to the first frame; and

setting a timer upon receiving the first frame, and changing a value of a first parameter of accessing a wireless medium from a first value to a second value when the timer times out,

wherein the method comprises

receiving a third frame including information that indicates at least one of the first value and the second value, and

determining, based on the information included in the third frame, at least one of: the first value and the second value of the first parameter, and

wherein the first parameter is a parameter used for determination of a duration of carrier sensing on the wireless medium.
