Abstract

An electronic device for aggregating electronic medical records, in which electronic medical records are aggregated from multiple electronic repositories and displayed as a single set of records. The multiple electronic repositories may store records for a particular patient using varying identifying/access information to facilitate anonymous access to the electronic medical records. Emergency medical services providers may be able to access medical records for a patient using the electronic device after being authenticated as a valid/licensed medical services provider.

Claims (63)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, at a wireless device, a request to transmit electronic medical records of a patient to a recipient device;

receiving input, at the wireless device, selecting a subset of electronic medical records from a collection of electronic medical records, the collection of electronic medical records being stored by at least two different remote medical provider systems, wherein the input selecting the subset of electronic medical records from the collection is provided by the patient through the wireless device;

identifying, for each electronic medical record of the subset of electronic medical records, a respective remote medical provider system storing the electronic medical record;

receiving, at the wireless device, authentication information corresponding to the patient;

authenticating, using the authentication information, an identity of the patient of the subset of electronic medical records;

in response to authenticating the identity of the patient, sending, to each of the identified remote medical provider systems, a request to transmit the respective electronic medical record to the wireless device;

receiving, by the wireless device, the subset of electronic medical records; and

wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records from the wireless device to the recipient device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the request comprises generating the request in response to receiving the input from the patient.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the request comprises receiving, at the wireless device, the request from the recipient device.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving second input, the second input specifying a type of electronic medical records, and

wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records associated with the specified type of electronic medical records; and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records associated with the specified type of electronic medical records.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising presenting the patient with a list of types of medical records, wherein receiving the second input comprises receiving a selection of at least one of the following: general medical, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, muscular, dermatological, surgical, allergies, immunizations, pharmaceutical, psychiatric, dental, vision, or insurance.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a level of access associated with the request, and

wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records associated with the determined level of access; and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records associated with the determined level of access.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving second input, the second input specifying a time, and wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records dated at or after the specified time; and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of the electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records dated at or after the specified time.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving second input, the second input specifying a time period defined by a first time and a second time, and

wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records dated within the time period; and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of the electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records dated within the time period.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving second input, the second input specifying at least one medical provider, and

wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records associated with the at least one medical provider; and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records associated with the at least one medical provider.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the recipient device and at the wireless device, an electronic medical record associated with the patient; and

updating the collection of electronic medical records using the electronic medical record.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recipient device is configured to communicate with other electronic devices to perform records access and management operations.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein using the authentication information comprises using the authentication information to authenticate the identity of the patient.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein using the authentication information comprises using the authentication information to authenticate the transmission of the subset of electronic medical records.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the collection of electronic medical records comprises multiple medical records originating from at least two different remote medical provider systems.

15. A system comprising:

at least one processor of a wireless device; and

one or more computer-readable media coupled to the at least one processor having stored thereon instructions which, when executed, cause the wireless device to perform operations comprising:

receiving a request to transmit electronic medical records of a patient to a recipient device;

receiving input selecting a subset of electronic medical records from a collection of electronic medical records, the collection of electronic medical records being stored by at least two different remote medical provider systems, wherein the input selecting the subset of electronic medical records from the collection is provided by the patient through the wireless device;

identifying, for each electronic medical record of the subset of electronic medical records, a respective remote medical provider system storing the electronic medical record;

receiving authentication information corresponding to the patient;

authenticating, using the authentication information, an identity of the patient or to authenticate a transmission of the subset of electronic medical records;

in response to authenticating the identity of the patient, sending, to each of the identified remote medical provider systems, a request to transmit the respective electronic medical record to the wireless device;

receiving, by the wireless device, the subset of electronic medical records; and

wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records from the wireless device to the recipient device.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein receiving the request comprises generating the request in response to receiving the input from the patient.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein receiving the request comprises receiving the request from the recipient device.

18. The system of claim 15 , the operations comprising receiving second input, the second input specifying a type of electronic medical records,

wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records associated with the specified type of electronic medical records, and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records associated with the specified type of electronic medical records.

19. The system of claim 18 , the operations comprising presenting the patient with a list of types of medical records,

wherein receiving the second input comprises receiving a selection of at least one of the following: general medical, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, muscular, dermatological, surgical, allergies, immunizations, pharmaceutical, psychiatric, dental, vision, or insurance.

20. The system of claim 15 , the operations comprising determining a level of access associated with the request,

wherein accessing the subset of electronic medical records comprises accessing a subset of electronic medical records within the collection of electronic medical records, the subset of electronic medical records associated with the determined level of access, and

wherein wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records comprises wirelessly transmitting the subset of electronic medical records associated with the determined level of access.

21. One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more computers, cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:

receiving, at a wireless device, a request to transmit electronic medical records of a patient to a recipient device;

receiving input, at the wireless device, selecting a subset of electronic medical records from a collection of electronic medical records, the collection of electronic medical records being stored by at least two different remote medical provider systems, wherein the input selecting the subset of electronic medical records from the collection is provided by the patient through the wireless device;
