Abstract

A mobile application running on a host mobile device is used to control the display of notifications, received by the host mobile device, on a mobile device cover. A single button on the mobile device cover is used to display, configure, and navigate through functionality menus of functions provided by the mobile device cover.

Claims (24)

1. A mobile phone cover for use with a mobile phone, comprising:

a display;

a user input interface;

one or more processors operatively coupled to the display and the user input interface, wherein the one or more processors are operable to:

provide a graphical user interface of the mobile phone cover that configures functionality of the mobile phone cover, wherein the functionality of the mobile phone cover can also be configured by a graphical user interface of the mobile phone, wherein the functionality comprises providing notifications based on a type of communication received by the mobile phone, a communication from a particular contact received by the mobile phone, and a communication received from the mobile phone relating to a particular mobile application; and

receive input from the user input interface to access and configure the functionality of the mobile phone cover.

2. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the user input interface comprises one or more buttons.

3. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 ,

wherein the type of communication received by the mobile phone comprises phone calls, emails, and text messages, and

wherein the communication from the particular contact received by the mobile phone comprises a phone call, an email, and a text message from the particular contact.

4. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein communication received from the mobile phone relating to the particular mobile application comprises a communication received by the mobile phone from a social media application.

The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the functionality comprises the mobile phone cover charging the mobile phone based on the input from the user input interface, and displaying a status of a battery of the mobile phone cover or the mobile phone based on the input from the user input interface.

6. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the functionality comprises displaying recent notifications and reviewing a particular notification of the recent notifications in additional detail based on the input from the user input interface.

7. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the functionality comprises configuring the display of the notifications on an operating mobile phone cover based on the input from the user input interface.

8. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the functionality comprises configuring one or more wireless communication links with the mobile phone cover based on the input from the user input interface.

9. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are operable to:

provide a graphical user interface to a provide a plurality of menus through which are navigated duration-based input from the user input interface where a particular time range corresponds to a particular menu, wherein each menu corresponds to a unique time range.

10. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein a first time range corresponds to a first menu, a second time range corresponds to a second menu, and the first time range and the second time range do not overlap in time.

11. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of menus are displayed successively on the display when the user input interface is interacted with for at least a preset duration.

12. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover is a separate device from the mobile phone.

13. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover communicates wirelessly with the mobile phone.

14. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover communicates wirelessly with the mobile phone cover when the mobile phone cover is separated from the mobile phone.

15. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises one or more cellular transceivers and is operable to communicate via a wireless cellular link.

16. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover is a separate device from the mobile phone and is structured to receive the mobile phone, and wherein the received mobile phone is connected to the mobile phone cover via a USB-type connector.
