Abstract

A system and method for encoding, transmitting and updating a display based on demura calibration information for a display device comprises generating demura correction coefficients based on display color information, separating coherent components from the demura correction coefficients to generate residual information, and encode the residual information using a first encoding technique. Further, the image data may be divided into data streams, compressed and transmitted to from a host device to a display driver of a display device. The display driver decompresses and drives subpixels of the pixels in based on the decompressed data. The display driver updates the subpixels of a display using corrected greyscale values for each subpixel are determined from the decompressed data.

Claims (14)

1. A method for encoding demura calibration information for a display device, the method comprising:

generating demura correction coefficients based on display color information;

separating coherent components of the demura correction coefficients to generate a baseline of each of the demura correction coefficients and residual high-frequency information;

encoding the residual high-frequency information using a first encoding technique; and

encoding the baseline of the each of the demura correction coefficients by encoding subpixels having a first color using a second encoding technique and encoding subpixels having a second color using a third encoding technique, wherein the second and third encoding techniques are different from the first encoding technique.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the baseline of each of the demura correction coefficients and residual high-frequency information comprises a first baseline comprising a first pitch and a second baseline comprising a second pitch different than the first pitch.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein separating the coherent components comprises separating a first profile and a second profile of each of the demura correction coefficients.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the first profile is a vertical profile and the second profile is a horizontal profile.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising capturing the display color information from the display device.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating a binary image based on the coherent components and the encoded residual high-frequency information.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising storing the binary image within a memory of the display device.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the residual high-frequency information includes first residual high-frequency information for a first subpixel type, second residual high-frequency information for a second subpixel type, and a third residual high-frequency information for a third subpixel type.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein at least one of the first residual high-frequency information, the second residual high-frequency information and the third residual high-frequency information is encoded differently than another one of the first residual high-frequency information, the second residual high-frequency information, and the third residual high-frequency information.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the demura calibration information includes compressed correction data.
