Abstract

A plurality of bypass lines are configured to selectively engage a corresponding plurality of food flow paths in a food processor. Each bypass line fluidly communicates with an inlet of a pressure regulating valve such that a common pressure occurs at a spaced position in each food flow path providing an equal pressure at the pressure regulating valve.

Claims (30)

1. An apparatus comprising:

(a) a first bypass line having a first interface configured to connect to a first food flow path of a food processor and receive a solution from the first food flow path into the first bypass line, the food processor having a food flow in a forward direction along the first food flow path, and wherein a flow of the solution can travel in a reverse direction along the first food flow path;

(b) a second bypass line having a second interface configured to connect to a second food flow path of the food processor and receive the solution from the second food flow path into the second bypass line, the food processor having a food flow in a forward direction along the second food flow path, and wherein a flow of the solution can travel in a reverse direction along the second food flow path; and

(c) a dominant flow resistor having a dominant flow resistor inlet and a dominant flow resistor outlet, the dominant flow resistor inlet in fluid communication with the first bypass line and second bypass line for regulating a pressure in the first bypass line and second bypass line.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is configured to dominate fluidic resistances in the first food flow path, the second food flow path, the first bypass line, and the second bypass line.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is configured to permit or prevent a flow in the first food flow path and the second food flow path.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is a pressure regulating valve having a pressure regulating valve inlet and a pressure regulating valve outlet.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the pressure regulating valve has one of a predetermined, fixed, dynamic, self-adjusting, and adjustable cracking pressure.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is a trap having a trap inlet and a trap outlet.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the trap is configured to be in a shape of a “U”, “S”, or “J”.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising an introduction manifold intermediate the first food flow path and the second food flow path, the introduction manifold being configured to fluidly communicate with the first food flow path and the second food flow path.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is external to the food processor.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first bypass line and the second bypass line are external to the food processor.

11. A method comprising:

(a) providing a first bypass line configured to fluidly connect to a first food flow path of a food processor and receive a solution from the first food flow path, wherein the food processor is configured to pass a food product in a downstream direction along the food flow path to be dispensed from the food processor; and

(b) fluidly communicating a dominant flow resistor with the first bypass line to provide a pressure regulation of a flow of the solution in the first food flow path in an upstream direction.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

(a) providing a second bypass line configured to fluidly connect to a second food flow path of the food processor and receive a solution from the second food flow path; and

(b) fluidly communicating the dominant flow resistor with the second bypass line to provide a pressure regulation of a flow of the solution in the second food flow path in an upstream direction.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the flow of the solution in the first food flow path and the flow of the solution in the second food flow path are in an upstream direction.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is configured to dominant fluidic resistances in the first food flow path and the first bypass line.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is configured to permit or prevent a flow in the first food flow path.

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is a pressure regulating valve having a pressure regulating valve inlet and a pressure regulating valve outlet.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the pressure regulating valve has one of a predetermined, fixed, dynamic, self-adjusting, and adjustable cracking pressure.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is a trap having a trap inlet and a trap outlet.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the trap is configured to be in a shape of a “U”, “S”, or “J”.

20. The method of claim 11 , further comprising providing an introduction manifold intermediate to the first food flow path, the introduction manifold being configured to fluidly communicate with the first food flow path.

21. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first bypass line comprises an access port, the access port having a plug to access or reduce vacuums in an interior region of the first bypass line.

22. The method of claim 11 , wherein the dominant flow resistor is external to the food processor.

23. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first bypass line and the second bypass line are external to the food processor.
