Abstract

Described herein are compositions composed of micronized placental components and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. The compositions have numerous medical applications. Methods for making and using the micronized compositions are also described herein.

Claims (8)

1. A method for promoting wound healing, wherein the method comprises contacting a wound with a composition comprising micronized placental tissue particles, said tissue particles consisting essentially of an amnion layer and a chorion layer, wherein the chorion layer is layered directly over the amnion layer, wherein the intermediate layer has been substantially removed, wherein the amnion layer has an epithelial layer and an exposed fibroblast layer, and further wherein the wound healing is associated with an orthopedic application.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the orthopedic application is selected from the group consisting of tendon repair, aiding in the repair of periosteum, repair of ruptured/damaged bursa, securing void filling materials during bone repair, repair of an articular surface, repair of a soft-tissue injury in or around a joint, application to an articular surface, repair and/or regrow chondrocytes, and as an anti-adhesion barrier.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the soft-tissue injury is caused by trauma or repeated motion.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the micronized placental tissue particles are dehydrated.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is an injectable composition.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the micronized placental tissue particles are less than 500 μm.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the micronized placental tissue particles are less than 300 μm.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the micronized placental tissue particles are 25-150 μm.
