Abstract

Provided is an information processing apparatus including an operation detection unit configured to detect a user's operation, and a display control unit configured to display content in a part including a middle of a display screen and display thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to one category in one direction along one side of the display screen in a region located separately from the middle of the display screen. The display control unit moves the displayed thumbnails in a vertical direction with respect to the one direction according to an operation which is detected by the operation detection unit and is an operation of switching the one category to which the content corresponding to the displayed thumbnails belongs.

Claims (52)

1. An information processing apparatus comprising:

first circuitry configured to receive an electronic wireless signal conveying operation information from a remote controller, wherein the remote controller is a touch pad type remote controller or a button type remote controller; and

second circuitry configured to control

display of target content transmitted to the information processing apparatus with at least category information indicating a first category,

display of first thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to the first category in one direction along one side of a display screen such that no portion of the first thumbnails cross a center line of the display screen that runs parallel to the one direction in which the first category comprises only moving image content information, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed in at least two groups to which content corresponding to the first thumbnails belongs based on a registration operation performed on specific content and group information, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed on only the one side of the display screen with no first thumbnail overlapping any other first thumbnail, the first thumbnails are displayed to overlap the displayed target content transmitted to the information processing apparatus, the groups each comprise multiple thumbnails of the respective group and the multiple thumbnails are displayed, and the group information is generated based on viewing information including content information on current viewing content or content viewing history,

display of a textual indicator of each group within a periphery of the first thumbnails,

movement of the first thumbnails corresponding to the content belonging to the first category according to a user operation which indicates switching from the first category to a second category, and

simultaneous display of only parts of second thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to the second category according to the user operation which indicates switching from the first category to the second category such that no portion of the second thumbnails cross the center line of the display screen in which the second category comprises only moving image content information,

wherein the operation of switching is a flicking operation, in a case of the touch pad type remote controller, or an operation of pressing a button for switching category, in a case of the button type remote controller,

wherein the content belonging to the first category or the second category includes at least moving-images from the Internet.

2. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the second circuitry is further configured to acquire content information from a server, and wherein the first thumbnails are displayed in the at least two groups to which the content corresponding to the first thumbnails belongs based on the group information and the registration operation for a specific user.

The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the content information includes thumbnails, category information for indicating a respective category to which content corresponding to the thumbnails belongs, and the group information which corresponds to grouping the thumbnails of the content belonging to a category.

4. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the second circuitry is configured to control display of an operation object according to received operation information.

5. The information processing apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the second circuitry is configured to control moving the displayed thumbnails in one direction when a display position of the operation object is located at an end region of the display screen.

6. The information processing apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the second circuitry is configured to control bringing a thumbnail closer to a position of the operation object than the other thumbnails into focus.

The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the second circuitry is configured to control movement and erasure of the first thumbnails corresponding to the content belonging to the first category according to the user operation which indicates switching from the first category to the second category.

The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein category information other than the category information corresponding to the first thumbnails is not displayed during display of the first thumbnails, and category information other than category information corresponding to the second thumbnails is not displayed during display of the second thumbnails.

9. An information processing method comprising:

receiving an electronic wireless signal conveying operation information from a remote controller, wherein the remote controller is a touch pad type remote controller or a button type remote controller; and

using circuitry configured to control

display of target content transmitted to an information processing apparatus with at least category information indicating a first category,

display of first thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to the first category in one direction along one side of a display screen such that no portion of the first thumbnails cross a center line of the display screen that runs parallel to the one direction in which the first category comprises only moving image content information, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed in at least two groups to which content corresponding to the first thumbnails belongs based on a registration operation performed on specific content and group information, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed on only the one side of the display screen with no first thumbnail overlapping any other first thumbnail, the first thumbnails are displayed to overlap the displayed target content transmitted to the information processing apparatus, the groups each comprise multiple thumbnails of the respective group and the multiple thumbnails are displayed, and the group information is generated based on viewing information including content information on current viewing content or content viewing history,

display of a textual indicator of each group within a periphery of the first thumbnails,

movement of the first thumbnails corresponding to the content belonging to the first category according to a user operation which indicates switching from the first category to a second category, and

simultaneous display of only parts of second thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to the second category according to the user operation which indicates switching from the first category to the second category such that no portion of the second thumbnails cross the center line of the display screen in which the second category comprises only moving image content information,

wherein the operation of switching is a flicking operation, in a case of the touch pad type remote controller, or an operation of pressing a button for switching category, in a case of the button type remote controller,

wherein the content belonging to the first category or the second category includes at least moving-images from the Internet.

The information processing method according to claim 9 , further comprising acquiring content information from a server, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed in the at least two groups to which the content corresponding to the first thumbnails belongs based on the group information and the registration operation for a specific user.

The information processing method according to claim 10 , wherein the content information includes thumbnails, category information for indicating a respective category to which content corresponding to the thumbnails belongs, and the group information which corresponds to grouping the thumbnails of the content belonging to a category.

12. The information processing method according to claim 9 , further comprising displaying an operation object according to received operation information.

13. The information processing method according to claim 12 , further comprising moving the displayed thumbnails in one direction when a display position of the operation object is located at an end region of the display screen.

14. The information processing method according to claim 12 , further comprising bringing a thumbnail closer to a position of the operation object than the other thumbnails into focus.

The information processing method according to claim 9 , wherein the circuitry is used to control movement and erasure of the first thumbnails corresponding to the content belonging to the first category according to the user operation which indicates switching from the first category to the second category.

The information processing method according to claim 9 , wherein category information other than the category information corresponding to the first thumbnails is not displayed during display of the first thumbnails, and category information other than category information corresponding to the second thumbnails is not displayed during display of the second thumbnails.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon a program causing a computer to execute information processing of:

receiving an electronic wireless signal conveying operation information from a remote controller, wherein the remote controller is a touch pad type remote controller or a button type remote controller; and

using a processor to control

display of target content transmitted to an information processing apparatus with at least category information indicating a first category,

display of first thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to the first category in one direction along one side of a display screen such that no portion of the first thumbnails cross a center line of the display screen that runs parallel to the one direction in which the first category comprises only moving image content information, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed in at least two groups to which content corresponding to the first thumbnails belongs based on a registration operation performed on specific content and group information, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed on only the one side of the display screen with no first thumbnail overlapping any other first thumbnail, the first thumbnails are displayed to overlap the displayed target content transmitted to the information processing apparatus, the groups each comprise multiple thumbnails of the respective group and the multiple thumbnails are displayed, and the group information is generated based on viewing information including content information on current viewing content or content viewing history,

display of a textual indicator of each group within a periphery of the first thumbnails,

movement of the first thumbnails corresponding to the content belonging to the first category according to a user operation which indicates switching from the first category to a second category, and

simultaneous display of only parts of second thumbnails corresponding to content belonging to the second category according to the user operation which indicates switching from the first category to the second category such that no portion of the second thumbnails cross the center line of the display screen in which the second category comprises only moving image content information,

wherein the operation of switching is a flicking operation, in a case of the touch pad type remote controller, or an operation of pressing a button for switching category, in a case of the button type remote controller,

wherein the content belonging to the first category or the second category includes at least moving-images from the Internet.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 17 , wherein the information processing further comprises acquiring content information from a server, wherein the first thumbnails are displayed in the at least two groups to which the content corresponding to the first thumbnails belongs based on the group information and the registration operation for a specific user.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 18 , wherein the content information includes thumbnails, category information for indicating a respective category to which content corresponding to the thumbnails belongs, and the group information which corresponds to grouping the thumbnails of the content belonging to a category.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 17 , wherein the information processing further comprises displaying an operation object according to received operation information.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 20 , wherein the information processing further comprises moving the displayed thumbnails in one direction when a display position of the operation object is located at an end region of the display screen.

22. The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 20 , wherein the information processing further comprises bringing a thumbnail closer to a position of the operation object than the other thumbnails into focus.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 17 , wherein the processor is used to control movement and erasure of the first thumbnails corresponding to the content belonging to the first category according to the user operation which indicates switching from the first category to the second category.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 17 , wherein category information other than the category information corresponding to the first thumbnails is not displayed during display of the first thumbnails, and category information other than category information corresponding to the second thumbnails is not displayed during display of the second thumbnails.
