MULTICAST WAKEUP IN WIRELESS NETWORKS
The disclosure describes systems and methods for updating multicast wakeup schedules in devices in a mesh network such as a neighborhood area network (NAN) multicast service group (NMSG). The systems and methods enable meshed devices to send and receive routing control messages amongst themselves in accordance with a centralized update protocol, a distributed update protocol, or a hybrid update protocol which is a combination of the centralized and distributed update protocols.

19 . A neighbor awareness networking (NAN) multicast service group originator for performing a multicast operation, wherein the NAN multicast service group originator comprises processing circuitry coupled to storage, the processing circuitry configured to:
initiate an NAN multicast service group, wherein the NAN multicast service group is formed by two or more NAN devices;
determine that at least one of the two or more NAN devices is enrolled in the NAN multicast service group;
determine that a change in the NAN multicast service group has occurred;
generate an updated NAN multicast service group schedule for use in the NAN multicast service group based on the change; and
send the updated NAN multicast service group schedule to the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
20 . The NAN multicast service group originator of claim 19 , wherein the updated NAN multicast service group schedule indicates a time when the at least one of the two or more NAN devices should start to use the updated NAN multicast service group schedule.

The NAN multicast service group originator of claim 19 , wherein the at least one of the two or more NAN device forwards the updated NAN multicast service group schedule, based on receiving the updated NAN multicast service group schedule, to a second NAN device in the NAN multicast service group.
22 . The NAN multicast service group originator of claim 19 , wherein the updated NAN multicast service group schedule comprises one or more resource allocations.
23 . The NAN multicast service group originator of claim 19 , wherein the at least one of the two or more NAN devices acts as a schedule owner of the NAN multicast service group.
24 . The NAN multicast service group originator of claim 19 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to receive a request to change the updated NAN multicast service group schedule from the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
25 . The NAN multicast service group originator of claim 24 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to reject the request to change the updated NAN multicast service group schedule from the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
26 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions which when executed by one or more processors result in performing operations comprising:
initiating an NAN multicast service group, wherein the NAN multicast service group is formed by two or more NAN devices;
determining that at least one of the two or more NAN devices is enrolled in the NAN multicast service group;
determining that a change in the NAN multicast service group has occurred;
generating an updated NAN multicast service group schedule for use in the NAN multicast service group based on the change; and
sending the updated NAN multicast service group schedule to the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
27 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 26 , wherein the updated NAN multicast service group schedule indicates a time when the at least one of the two or more NAN devices should start to use the updated NAN multicast service group schedule.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 26 , wherein the at least one of the two or more NAN device forwards the updated NAN multicast service group schedule, based on receiving the updated NAN multicast service group schedule, to a second NAN device in the NAN multicast service group.
29 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 26 , wherein the updated NAN multicast service group schedule comprises one or more resource allocations.
30 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 26 , wherein the at least one of the two or more NAN devices acts as a schedule owner of the NAN multicast service group.
31 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 26 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving a request to change the updated NAN multicast service group schedule from the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
32 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 31 , wherein the operations further comprise reject the request to change the updated NAN multicast service group schedule from the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
33 . A method comprising:
initiating, by one or more processors, an NAN multicast service group, wherein the NAN multicast service group is formed by two or more NAN devices;
determining that at least one of the two or more NAN devices is enrolled in the NAN multicast service group;
determining that a change in the NAN multicast service group has occurred;
generating an updated NAN multicast service group schedule for use in the NAN multicast service group based on the change; and
sending the updated NAN multicast service group schedule to the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the updated NAN multicast service group schedule indicates a time when the at least one of the two or more NAN devices should start to use the updated NAN multicast service group schedule.
35 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the at least one of the two or more NAN device forwards the updated NAN multicast service group schedule, based on receiving the updated NAN multicast service group schedule, to a second NAN device in the NAN multicast service group.
36 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the updated NAN multicast service group schedule comprises one or more resource allocations.
37 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the at least one of the two or more NAN devices acts as a schedule owner of the NAN multicast service group.
38 . The method of claim 33 , further comprising receiving a request to change the updated NAN multicast service group schedule from the at least one of the two or more NAN devices.
