Systems and methods for analyte testing and laboratory oversight
In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising analyte testing on one or more types of samples.
1. A system comprising:
a sample processing device comprising:
a liquid handling device comprising a plurality of pipette assemblies, each of said pipette assemblies is independently actuatable in a vertical direction; and
a magnet tool positioned in a location in the sample processing device;
a piston assembly in one of the pipette assemblies of the liquid handling device with a piston portion to interface with the magnet tool to pick up the magnet tool from the resting location in the sample processing device by extending the piston portion out of a nozzle of at least one of the pipette assemblies to engage one end of magnet tool and retract the magnet tool back into a nozzle of the at least one pipette assemblies, wherein the end engaged by the magnet tool is retractable upward into the nozzle and the magnet tool is extendable outward from the nozzle and detachable from the piston after use.
2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sample processing device further comprises a housing.
3. The system of claim 2 , further comprising a spectrophotometer in the housing.
4. The system of claim 2 , further comprising a nucleic acid amplification device in the housing.
5. The system of claim 2 , further comprising a sonicator in the housing.
6. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the pipette assemblies has a nozzle for handling a higher volume of fluid relative to nozzles on the other pipette assemblies.
7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a cartridge with assay reagents.
8. The system of claim 7 , further comprising a foil seal barrier on the cartridge.
9. The system of claim 7 , further comprising lysis buffer in the cartridge.
10. The system of claim 7 , further comprising functionalized magnetic beads in the cartridge.
11. The system of claim 7 , further comprising binding buffer in the cartridge.
12. The system of claim 7 , further comprising a magnet tool sleeve for covering the magnet tool.
13. A system comprising:
a sample processing device comprising:
a centrifuge;
a liquid handling device comprising a plurality of pipette assemblies, each of said pipette assemblies is independently actuatable in a vertical direction; and
a magnet tool positioned in a location in the sample processing device;
a piston assembly in one of the pipette assemblies of the liquid handling device with a piston portion to interface with the magnet tool to pick up the magnet tool from the resting location in the sample processing device by extending the piston portion out of a nozzle of at least one of the pipette assemblies to engage one end of magnet tool and retract the magnet tool back into a nozzle of the at least one pipette assemblies, wherein the end engaged by the magnet tool is retractable upward into the nozzle and the magnet tool is extendable outward from the nozzle and detachable from the piston after use.
14. The system of claim 13 further comprising a fluorometer.
15. The system of claim 14 wherein the fluorometer comprises a laser diode, excitation filters, and emission filters.
16. A system comprising:
a sample processing device comprising:
a microscopy system having an objective and a laser light source;
a liquid handling device comprising a plurality of pipette assemblies, each of said pipette assemblies is independently actuatable in a vertical direction; and
a magnet tool positioned in a location in the sample processing device;
a piston assembly in one of the pipette assemblies of the liquid handling device with a piston portion to interface with the magnet tool to pick up the magnet tool from the resting location in the sample processing device by extending the piston portion out of a nozzle of at least one of the pipette assemblies to engage one end of magnet tool and retract the magnet tool back into a nozzle of the at least one pipette assemblies, wherein the end engaged by the magnet tool is retractable upward into the nozzle and the magnet tool is extendable outward from the nozzle and detachable from the piston after use.
17. The system of claim 14 wherein the microscopy system further comprises a motor for adjusting a position of the objective.
18. The system of claim 14 wherein the microscopy system further comprises a ring-light for dark field imaging.
