Abstract

A wireless device may communicate via a primary cell having a primary control channel or a secondary cell having a secondary control channel. The wireless device may transmit a scheduling request, and a scheduling request timer may be started based on the transmission of the scheduling request.

Claims (172)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer indication for an SR timer, wherein the wireless device is configured to communicate via a primary cell with a primary control channel associated with an SR maximum quantity of transmissions and via a secondary cell with a secondary control channel associated with the SR maximum quantity of transmissions; and

based on a value of an SR counter being less than the SR maximum quantity of transmissions:

incrementing the value of the SR counter;

selecting a valid control channel SR resource from one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel;

transmitting an SR, associated with an SR process, via the valid control channel SR resource; and

based on transmitting the SR via either the primary control channel or the secondary control channel, starting the SR timer with an expiration duration value based on the SR prohibit timer indication.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the SR comprises transmitting the SR via a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein SR resources are configured for at least one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising the primary cell and the secondary cell, wherein the plurality of cells are grouped into a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising:

a primary PUCCH group comprising the primary cell; and

a secondary PUCCH group comprising the secondary cell.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

first SR resources are configured for the primary cell; and

second SR resources are configured for the secondary cell.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the value of the SR counter is less than the SR maximum quantity of transmissions in a subframe in which:

the SR process is pending;

no uplink shared channel resource is available for transmission;

a media access control (MAC) entity has at least one valid control channel resource for the SR;

the subframe is not a part of a measurement gap; and

the SR timer is not running.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a scheduling request configuration index used to determine whether a subframe has valid resources to transmit the SR.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the secondary cell is a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising selecting, via a media access control (MAC) entity, the valid control channel SR resource by using at least one of the following rules:

the MAC entity prioritizes the primary control channel to transmit the SR;

the MAC entity uses control channel resource load information;

the MAC entity alternates between the primary control channel and the secondary control channel to transmit the SR; and

the MAC entity uses a random or pseudo random process.

10. A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer indication for an SR timer, wherein the wireless device is configured to communicate via a primary cell with a primary control channel associated with an SR maximum quantity of transmissions and via a secondary cell with a secondary control channel associated with the SR maximum quantity of transmissions;

incrementing a value of an SR counter;

selecting a valid control channel SR resource from one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel;

transmitting an SR, associated with an SR process, via the valid control channel SR resource;

based on transmitting the SR via either the primary control channel or the secondary control channel, starting the SR timer with an expiration duration value based on the SR prohibit timer indication; and

canceling the SR process based on the SR maximum quantity of transmissions being reached.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein transmitting the SR comprises transmitting the SR via a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein SR resources are configured for at least one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel.

13. The method of claim 10 , further comprising receiving configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising the primary cell and the secondary cell, wherein the plurality of cells are grouped into a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising:

a primary PUCCH group comprising the primary cell; and

a secondary PUCCH group comprising the secondary cell.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein:

first SR resources are configured for the primary cell; and

second SR resources are configured for the secondary cell.

15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the SR maximum quantity of transmissions is reached in a subframe in which:

the SR process is pending;

no uplink shared channel resource is available for transmission;

a media access control (MAC) entity has at least one valid control channel resource for the SR;

the subframe is not a part of a measurement gap; and

the SR timer is not running.

16. The method of claim 10 , further comprising receiving a scheduling request configuration index used to determine whether a subframe has valid resources to transmit the SR.

17. The method of claim 10 , wherein the secondary cell is a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell.

18. The method of claim 10 , further comprising selecting, via a media access control (MAC) entity, the valid control channel SR resource by using at least one of the following rules:

the MAC entity prioritizes the primary control channel to transmit the SR;

the MAC entity uses control channel resource load information;

the MAC entity alternates between the primary control channel and the secondary control channel to transmit the SR; and

the MAC entity uses a random or pseudo random process.

19. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer indication for an SR timer, wherein the wireless device is configured to communicate via a primary cell with a primary control channel associated with an SR maximum quantity of transmissions and via a secondary cell with a secondary control channel associated with the SR maximum quantity of transmissions; and

based on a value of an SR counter being less than the SR maximum quantity of transmissions:

increment the value of the SR counter;

select a valid control channel SR resource from one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel;

transmit an SR, associated with an SR process, via the valid control channel SR resource; and

based on transmitting the SR via either the primary control channel or the secondary control channel, start the SR timer with an expiration duration value based on the SR prohibit timer indication.

20. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to transmit the SR by transmitting the SR via a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

21. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein SR resources are configured for at least one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel.

22. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to receive configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising the primary cell and the secondary cell, wherein the plurality of cells are grouped into a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising:

a primary PUCCH group comprising the primary cell; and

a secondary PUCCH group comprising the secondary cell.

23. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein:

first SR resources are configured for the primary cell; and

second SR resources are configured for the secondary cell.

24. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein the value of the SR counter is less than the SR maximum quantity of transmissions in a subframe in which:

the SR process is pending;

no uplink shared channel resource is available for transmission;

a media access control (MAC) entity has at least one valid control channel resource for the SR;

the subframe is not a part of a measurement gap; and

the SR timer is not running.

25. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to receive a scheduling request configuration index used to determine whether a subframe has valid resources to transmit the SR.

26. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein the secondary cell is a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell.

27. The wireless device of claim 19 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to select, via a media access control (MAC) entity, the valid control channel SR resource by using at least one of the following rules:

the MAC entity prioritizes the primary control channel to transmit the SR;

the MAC entity uses control channel resource load information;

the MAC entity alternates between the primary control channel and the secondary control channel to transmit the SR; and

the MAC entity uses a random or pseudo random process.

28. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer indication for an SR timer, wherein the wireless device is configured to communicate via a primary cell with a primary control channel associated with an SR maximum quantity of transmissions and via a secondary cell with a secondary control channel associated with the SR maximum quantity of transmissions;

increment a value of an SR counter;

select a valid control channel SR resource from one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel;

transmit an SR, associated with an SR process, via the valid control channel SR resource;

based on transmitting the SR via either the primary control channel or the secondary control channel, start the SR timer with an expiration duration value based on the SR prohibit timer indication; and

cancel the SR process based on the SR maximum quantity of transmissions being reached.

29. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to transmit the SR by transmitting the SR via a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

30. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein SR resources are configured for at least one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel.

31. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to receive configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising the primary cell and the secondary cell, wherein the plurality of cells are grouped into a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising:

a primary PUCCH group comprising the primary cell; and

a secondary PUCCH group comprising the secondary cell.

32. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein:

first SR resources are configured for the primary cell; and

second SR resources are configured for the secondary cell.

33. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein the SR maximum quantity of transmissions is reached in a subframe in which:

the SR process is pending;

no uplink shared channel resource is available for transmission;

a media access control (MAC) entity has at least one valid control channel resource for the SR;

the subframe is not a part of a measurement gap; and

the SR timer is not running.

34. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to receive a scheduling request configuration index used to determine whether a subframe has valid resources to transmit the SR.

35. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein the secondary cell is a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell.

36. The wireless device of claim 28 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to select, via a media access control (MAC) entity, the valid control channel SR resource by using at least one of the following rules:

the MAC entity prioritizes the primary control channel to transmit the SR;

the MAC entity uses control channel resource load information;

the MAC entity alternates between the primary control channel and the secondary control channel to transmit the SR; and

the MAC entity uses a random or pseudo random process.

37. One or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed, cause:

receiving, by a wireless device, a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer indication for an SR timer, wherein the wireless device is configured to communicate via a primary cell with a primary control channel associated with an SR maximum quantity of transmissions and via a secondary cell with a secondary control channel associated with the SR maximum quantity of transmissions; and

based on a value of an SR counter being less than the SR maximum quantity of transmissions:

incrementing the value of the SR counter;

selecting a valid control channel SR resource from one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel;

transmitting an SR, associated with an SR process, via the valid control channel SR resource; and

based on transmitting the SR via either the primary control channel or the secondary control channel, starting the SR timer with an expiration duration value based on the SR prohibit timer indication.

38. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause transmitting the SR via a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

39. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein SR resources are configured for at least one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel.

40. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause receiving configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising the primary cell and the secondary cell, and wherein the plurality of cells are grouped into a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising:

a primary PUCCH group comprising the primary cell; and

a secondary PUCCH group comprising the secondary cell.

41. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein:

first SR resources are configured for the primary cell; and

second SR resources are configured for the secondary cell.

42. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein the value of the SR counter is less than the SR maximum quantity of transmissions in a subframe in which:

the SR process is pending;

no uplink shared channel resource is available for transmission;

a media access control (MAC) entity has at least one valid control channel resource for the SR;

the subframe is not a part of a measurement gap; and

the SR timer is not running.

43. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause receiving a scheduling request configuration index used to determine whether a subframe has valid resources to transmit the SR.

44. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein the secondary cell is a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell.

45. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause selecting, via a media access control (MAC) entity, the valid control channel SR resource by using at least one of the following rules:

the MAC entity prioritizes the primary control channel to transmit the SR;

the MAC entity uses control channel resource load information;

the MAC entity alternates between the primary control channel and the secondary control channel to transmit the SR; and

the MAC entity uses a random or pseudo random process.

46. One or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed, cause:

receiving, by a wireless device, a scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer indication for an SR timer, wherein the wireless device is configured to communicate via a primary cell with a primary control channel associated with an SR maximum quantity of transmissions and via a secondary cell with a secondary control channel associated with the SR maximum quantity of transmissions;

incrementing a value of an SR counter;

selecting a valid control channel SR resource from one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel;

transmitting an SR, associated with an SR process, via the valid control channel SR resource;

based on transmitting the SR via either the primary control channel or the secondary control channel, starting the SR timer with an expiration duration value based on the SR prohibit timer indication; and

canceling the SR process based on the SR maximum quantity of transmissions being reached.

47. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause transmitting the SR via a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

48. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein SR resources are configured for at least one of the primary control channel or the secondary control channel.

49. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause receiving configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising the primary cell and the secondary cell, and wherein the plurality of cells are grouped into a plurality of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups comprising:

a primary PUCCH group comprising the primary cell; and

a secondary PUCCH group comprising the secondary cell.

50. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein:

first SR resources are configured for the primary cell; and

second SR resources are configured for the secondary cell.

51. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein the SR maximum quantity of transmissions is reached in a subframe in which:

the SR process is pending;

no uplink shared channel resource is available for transmission;

a media access control (MAC) entity has at least one valid control channel resource for the SR;

the subframe is not a part of a measurement gap; and

the SR timer is not running.

52. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause receiving a scheduling request configuration index used to determine whether a subframe has valid resources to transmit the SR.

53. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein the secondary cell is a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell.

54. The one or more non-transitory tangible computer-readable media of claim 46 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause selecting, via a media access control (MAC) entity, the valid control channel SR resource by using at least one of the following rules:

the MAC entity prioritizes the primary control channel to transmit the SR;

the MAC entity uses control channel resource load information;

the MAC entity alternates between the primary control channel and the secondary control channel to transmit the SR; and

the MAC entity uses a random or pseudo random process.
