Abstract

An optical module includes: an optical assembly, including a light receiving assembly and/or a light transmitting assembly; a printed circuit board, on which the optical assembly is mounted; an adapter, used for docking with external connectors, wherein the adapter is configured to fit the optical assembly and to be fixed to the printed circuit board, and the adapter includes a metal part and a plastic part; and a conductive shell, used for accommodating the printed circuit board, the optical assembly, and the adapter, the conductive shell being electrically connected to the metal part of the adapter.

Claims (73)

1. An optical module, comprising:

an optical assembly, including at least one of a light receiving assembly or a light transmitting assembly;

a printed circuit board, on which the optical assembly is mounted;

an adapter, used for docking with external connectors, wherein the adapter is configured to fit the optical assembly and to be fixed to the printed circuit board, the adapter including a metal part; and

a conductive shell, for receiving the printed circuit board, the optical assembly, and the adapter, the conductive shell being electrically connected to the metal part of the adapter,

wherein the metal part includes a metal base and a metal frame located on the metal base,

a light-transmitting opening is surrounded by the metal frame and the metal base, and

the entirety or portions of the metal base and metal frame are electrically connected to the conductive shell.

2. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein

the adapter further includes a plastic part,

the metal base includes a first metal base and a second metal base,

a height of the first metal base is lower than a height of the second metal base,

the metal frame is secured on the first metal base,

the plastic part is securely attached to the first metal base and the metal frame, and

the second metal base is securely adhered to the printed circuit board.

3. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein

the adapter further includes a plastic part,

the plastic part is fixed on the metal base,

a plurality of docking parts used for docking with external connectors are arranged on a front end of the plastic part, and

the docking parts are made of plastic material.

4. The optical module according to claim 3 , wherein

the plastic part is partially received within the metal frame,

a first limiting part that fits the metal base is provided at a bottom of the plastic part, and

second limiting parts that fit the metal frame are provided at sides of the plastic part.

5. The optical module according to claim 4 , wherein

when the metal part and the plastic part are securely installed, the bottom of the plastic part and a bottom of the metal base are situated on the same plane, and the sides of the plastic part and sides of the metal frame are situated on the same plane.

6. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein

the adapter further includes a plastic part,

a longitudinally elongated protrusion is arranged at the top of the plastic part,

a groove is arranged on the inside of the metal frame, and

when the plastic part and metal part are installed, the protrusion and the groove are fitted to each other.

7. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein

the adapter further includes a plastic part, and

the adapter is formed from the metal part and the plastic part by a process of insert molding.

8. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein one or multiple electromagnetic shielding devices are arranged on the outside of the adapter.

9. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of supporting parts of equal height are arranged on a bottom surface of the conductive shell, and the printed circuit board is securely installed on the supporting parts on the bottom surface of the conductive shell.

10. The optical module according to claim 1 , wherein limiting parts and limiting grooves that fit each other are arranged on corresponding sides of the conductive shell and the printed circuit board, respectively.

11. An assembly method for an optical module, comprising:

providing a printed circuit board, and mounting an optical assembly on the printed circuit board, the optical assembly including at least one of a light receiving assembly or a light transmitting assembly;

forming an adapter by a process of insert molding, the adapter including a metal part and being used for docking with external connectors;

fixing the adapter to the printed circuit board using the optical assembly as a position reference; and

installing a conductive shell to an outside of the printed circuit board to form the optical module,

wherein the metal part includes a metal base and a metal frame located on the metal base,

a light-transmitting opening is surrounded by the metal frame and the metal base, and

the entirety or portions of the metal base and metal frame are electrically connected to the conductive shell.

12. The assembly method of claim 11 , wherein the adapter further includes a plastic part.

13. The optical module of claim 1 , wherein the printed circuit board is rigid, and includes a finger-shaped structure at one end of the printed circuit board.

14. An optical module, comprising:

a conductive shell defining a space;

a printed circuit board disposed in the space;

an optical assembly mounted on the printed circuit board;

an adapter configured to couple an external connector to the optical assembly, wherein the adapter is disposed in the space, secured to the printed circuit board, fitted with the optical assembly, and electrically connected to the conductive shell.

15. The optical module of claim 14, wherein the adapter includes a metal part, and the metal part of the adapter is secured to the printed circuit board.

16. The optical module of claim 14, wherein the adapter includes a metal part, the metal part being electrically connected to the conductive shell.

17. The optical module of claim 16, wherein the metal part includes a metal base and a metal frame on the metal base, and the entirety or portions of the metal base and metal frame are electrically connected to an inner surface of the conductive shell.

18. The optical module of claim 17, wherein

the metal base includes a first metal base and a second metal base,

a height of the first metal base is lower than a height of the second metal base,

the metal frame is secured on the first metal base,

the second metal base is securely adhered to the printed circuit board.

19. The optical module of claim 16, wherein

the adapter further includes a plastic part, and

the plastic part and the metal part are formed through a process of insert molding.

20. The optical module of claim 18, further comprising:

a plurality of docking parts used for docking with an external connector arranged on a front end of the plastic part.

21. The optical module of claim 14, wherein

the conductive shell includes a first conductive shell and a second conductive shell that are securely installed to form the space.

22. The optical module of claim 21, wherein

the printed circuit board is rigid and includes a finger-shaped structure at one end of the printed circuit board.

23. The optical module of claim 22, wherein

the second conductive shell includes limiting parts that are arranged on the sides of the second conductive shell,

the printed circuit board includes limiting grooves that are arranged on the sides of the printed circuit board, and

the limiting grooves of the printed circuit board fit the limiting parts of the second conductive shell.
